How Dubai Visa Ban Messed Up My Plan - Enyinna Nwigwe
Enyinna talks UAE visa ban
Recently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) imposed a visa ban on about 20 countries including Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Liberia, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros, and the Dominican Republic. In the notice circulated, the United Arab Emirates said that they will not be posting 30 days visa applications for these nationalities effective October 18, 2022. Since then, a number of Nigerians have been frantic. People have vacation plans, business plans, and some people just want to japa over to Dubai to start their life there.
One Nollywood actor who was personally hit by the ban and is now speaking out about it is Nollywood actor, Enyinna Nwigwe. Speaking to The Nation during an interview at the ASCEND exhibition held at Kuburat Gbadamosi, Enyinna talked about how the visa ban affected him, his break from Nollywood, and more. Here's what Enyinna Nwigwe said.

First speaking about why he decided to take a break from Nollywood after appearing in a number of productions including "Living in Bondage: Breaking Free", and "Badamasi (Portrait of a General)", Enyinna Nwigwe said:
I recently took a very short break from acting and filming. A lot of evolution is going on. It’s important for one to take a break sometimes to re-strategize and know how to approach things next.
Speaking about the upcoming projects he has, Enyinna Nwigwe said:
I have quite a lot of films coming up. My fans should expect me in Season 2 of Kings of Jo’Burg, a Netflix Original series produced in South Africa. I have a film on tour in the United States: ‘Single Not Searching’, which was done in collaboration with some American actors. We are also touring Europe and UAE with the film.
Speaking about touring the UAE, right now, Enyinna is supposed to be at the META Film Festival but cannot be there because of the UAE Visa Ban. Speaking about the ban and how it is has affected him, Enyinna Nwigwe said:
It’s quite painful because right now as I speak to you, I’m supposed to be in Dubai for the META Film Festival, and just a day to flying, the ban happened. It’s quite disappointing and I’m hoping that the Nigerian government really get in touch with its UAE counterpart to sort out whatever the problem is.
Enyinna is not the only person affected by the UAE Visa Ban. Since the announcement, a lot of Nigerians have really been crying, wailing, and fasting so that the ban is removed and they can finally secure their visas to go to the UAE.
