happiness & contentment

my perspective :P

One thing that is important is to understand just how ineffective chasing a feeling can be. Happiness is not something that is achievable 24/7, and there will always be moments when you wish you could be happier than you are. This being said, I also believe it is necessary to be appreciative of happiness when it does come, because it won’t last forever. I think it’s such a cliche at this point, but happiness is truly a journey rather than a destination.

It’s also necessary to come to terms with the fact that there are demons on the way to happiness. If you want to cultivate genuine peace and happiness, you have to gain the ability to be honest with yourself and to acknowledge when you aren’t actually feeling well. Doing this can make your healing journey so powerful because I don’t believe it is possible to cultivate good feelings if you pretend like the bad ones aren’t there. There is truth in ‘fake it until you make it’ but only to an extent, because there is power in working with what you have and moving forward from there. There is power in taking the “bad” moments and being able to laugh within them. To be able to not take things so seriously and to roll with the punches. It’s not always easy and I have my own moments where I reject every aspect of this.

Another aspect of being happy and content in yourself, is being able to live in the moment. To go back to the ‘no chasing’ rule, if you’re constantly running after something that you haven’t obtained yet, on some level this means that that feeling is also running away from you. It’s possible you could eventually catch up to it, but there’s only so much fun in a cat & mouse game. This is subjective however, but I personally don’t find much fun in never truly obtaining a desire or feeling. You need to be able to find contentment in any moment.

Happiness is not for people afraid to experience a full range of emotions. And as a Virgo moon, it can definitely be annoying to go through those low moments, but they’re there for a reason and they can be very helpful in achieving more positive emotions.

Inspired action is also something to look out for. This is specifically for my intuitive peeps, though. If you haven’t been feeling super great and you’re wanting to feel better, listen to your heart. If you feel as though a good crying session would help, then do that. If you feel like hitting up an old friend that wasn’t so kind to you, consider doing that. Intuition doesn’t always make sense in the moment, but often you’ll be glad that you paid attention in the end. But take this with a grain of salt, because I am still learning to be able to follow my intuition wholeheartedly.

Patience also helps immensely in cultivating happiness. Understanding that while we are extremely powerful in this dimension, it is not always in our best interests to get the things we desire as quickly as we’d prefer.

There are so many ways one can cultivate happiness and contentment, and there are many varying perspectives on doing so. I trust the words in this post will be helpful to anyone reading, but you also need to understand that with any advice on the human experience, that everything is subjective and you should use your own discernment in regards to your life. Thank you so much for reading and please continue to flourish!
