"Groot" isn't just cute

I Am Groot

Another day to bow to the power of cuteness.

I'd love to watch it all the time, even without the story and with Groot being cute.

Like those short videos of cats and dogs on the Internet, there's no drama, no jokes, no substance... We can't get tired of just recording these cute pictures.

Nobel Prize winner Konrad Lorenz came up with the theory of "baby Schema," which goes a long way toward explaining why we love cute animals.

Because cute animals generally have the characteristics of infants, they are small, innocent, harmless. It is easy to disarm people, and then let people feel relaxed and happy.

And this infantile image also evokes our maternal and protective qualities.

When we interact with cute animals, we also release dopamine like crazy, producing high levels of pleasure and satisfaction.

Especially these days, when life is becoming more stressful and the social and economic environment is becoming more and more complex, cute things can actually have a good comforting effect, or at least a better mood.

But now that Groot has been made into a short series, let's talk about how the show has succeeded in characterizing it in light of its endearing qualities.

Those of you who like to study scriptwriter theory have probably heard the saying, "Presentation is better than description".

Presentation is often the most intuitive to the audience, while description is abstract because it requires constant thinking.

For example, it is more intuitive to describe a situation where a person's fingers hurt when he was burned by hot water. Instead of saying that he was burned by hot water and he was in pain, it is better to describe that hot water was poured into his hands and he immediately jumped up, bared his teeth and screamed.

In a film and television work, in order to present well, it needs more complex conditions, actors, scripts, editing, picture scheduling, lack of a no

A good story needs to give the audience "anticipation." It needs to make the audience expect what the characters will do next and how they will do it.

And the character's approach, must conform to his character and people, otherwise the character is very false, not credible.

Groot is not only cute, he's believable.

From the opening scene, when Groot holds the remote control to fast-forward through Marvel's classic opening credits, the character creation has already begun.

In one small act, it shows just how grumpy Groot can be as a "bear child."

Groot, who sacrificed himself to save everyone in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, has always been a goofy-goody guy.

What was left of his body was then replanted, which could be seen as Groot's rebirth.

The newborn Groot is not only as innocent and cute as a baby, but also grumpy and playful.

As he grew up, he picked up some "bad habits" from the rest of the Guardians.

For example, the new Groot is a bit violent, likes to fight violence with violence, he swears, he pranks, and he has some bad "caution machines".

He is jealous and attacks angrily at the sight of a new plant replacing him. When he sees people imitate him and point at him, he will deliberately trap them, then open the hatch and chase them away.

He liked to fight violence with violence, and when people bullied him and made fun of him, he would take revenge.

He was a prankster. He would play tricks on animals weaker than himself, and he would set off bombs on his ship just for fun.

There is a "careful machine" of him, but also in the light of the bomb, first prepared a painting, for their own immediate disaster, to find a good way out.

When the bomb was really lit, he would be heartless and happy, when the rocket opened to scold, he then sold cute, innocent, "pathetic" to hand over long prepared paintings.

This is the love - and - hate Groot, the baby Groot with the bad milk.

If you've been tired of the thinness of recent Marvel characters, this short series, which lasts just a few minutes, offers a new, distinctive Groot.

Cuteness itself is the most intelligent and clever presentation, and successful characterization is the icing on the cake. Those who make people smile, enough to prove the screenwriter's heart.

As for the downside of the show, I think it's just too short to watch...
