Psychology graduate students see business opportunities

Huang Haiyan, 30, was born to an ordinary worker's family in Wuhan, Hubei province. In 2000, she was admitted to the Chinese department of Jianghan University. She wanted to be a middle school Chinese teacher after graduation, but after graduation, she found that there were more undergraduates in the Chinese department like her in the talent market, and the units that came to recruit all wanted to be graduate students from key universities. Four or five months after graduation, Huang Haiyan's job is still in limbo.

One day, Huang Haiyan heard in an employment lecture that in foreign countries, the social status of psychologists is very high and the income is considerable. However, in China, the psychological doctor is a promising new career. Listening to these words, Huang Haiyan was immediately interested. That night, she thought about it for a long time. Considering her low diploma, she decided to pursue further education and study psychology.

After thorough preparation, Huang Haiyan was admitted to Sun Yat-sen University as a postgraduate student in applied psychology in 2005. Because she was "halfway home" and did not have an undergraduate degree in her major, Huang studied very hard, and she was interested in psychology. Soon, she became the top student in her class.

In the summer of 2008, Huang Haiyan graduated from graduate school and got the National Certificate of second-level psychological Consultant. When she is ready to get employment again, the financial crisis wreaths havoc all over the world, many units downsize in succession, and the business condition of each psychological consultation institution is not quite optimistic. Despite having a postgraduate degree, Huang has encountered obstacles everywhere. After a lot of difficulties, she finally found a job as a psychological consultant in a psychological counseling center in Wuhan.

On the first day to report to the unit, Huang Haiyan set a grand goal for himself: after five years, he must open a psychological counseling center. However, after working, Huang learned that psychological counseling is not as popular in China as she thought. Many people refuse to accept psychological counseling for fear that their privacy will be compromised or they will be regarded as mentally ill. Even if some people are willing to consult, they cannot afford the high counseling fees. Therefore, Huang Haiyan worked in the consulting center for more than half a year and only really received ten consultants. It was a far cry from what she had hoped for, and she could not help regretting her choice.

Knowing her daughter's situation, her mother advised her, "Why don't you pick up your Chinese major and find a contemporary class teacher in any school that is better than this?" Although Huang Haiyan felt that her mother's words are somewhat reasonable, she thinks that she is still very interested in psychology, and participating in a variety of training, the investment in the past few years has tens of thousands of yuan, if so given up, it is a pity. For a time, Huang Haiyan is very contradictory. At that time, just near the Spring Festival, she asked for a long vacation to the unit, planning to consider it again.

After staying at home for a few days, the neighbor's aunt Zhang came to Huang Haiyan and said, "My daughter-in-law is pregnant and has a baby at home. She doesn't want to go out all day. My son works during the day and she and I, this old woman, have nothing to say. You're all young people. You have something in common." Think of nothing at home, Huang Haiyan agreed.
