For the past 3 years, Doug Davidson fans have been complaining that the veteran actor on The Young and the Restless is not being treated fairly. Lauralee Bell who portrays Davidson's wife on the show has been seen twice in recent weeks, but his character Paul Williams has been noticeably absent. Disgruntled viewers signed a petition some time back and the actor said that he was going to be seen more in Genoa City. Instead, new characters are being added to the CBS daytime drama and Davidson says he is tired.

Recently fans of the actor told him on social media that they believe he is being treated unfairly and Davidson agreed. He said in a tweet, “I just want to thank you again for all your support,” Davidson said in another angry tweet slamming The Young and the Restless. “But I think I am done. After 43 years I am treated like a day player. No bueno.” The trouble started when Mal Young was head writer and Paul was not seen in close to a year. Josh Griffith took over and said he was bringing back the glory days of Genoa City but he did not.

Quite a number of Y&R fans are disgruntled because the CBS daytime drama continues to bring on new characters while ignoring legacy families. No one knows why Paul Williams is not being utilized but it’s obvious Josh Griffith does not desire to give the character a storyline. Over a year ago there was a refivulous episode featuring Paul and Michael walking into a restaurant arguing about a game of racket ball. This was something these two men did in the 1990s and a number of viewers said they were embarrassed for Doug Davidson snd Christian Le Blanc.

The scene came across as if it were saying that these two men were relics of the past. Doug Davidson has said that the CBS executives have his number but are not calling him. Eric Braeden who portrays Victor Newman has been very outspoken about the way “ Dougie Davidson” is being treated but it has not made a difference. During the time that Davidson has been sidelined there have been a number of new characters to show up in Genoa City. Theo Vanderway, Lola, Rey, Arturo and Mia Rosales and Sally Spectra. Adam Newman, Lily, Chelsea and Chance Chancellor all returned to Genoa City.

Mishael Morgan was brought back as Hilary’s twin sister Amanda and yet Paul was nowhere to be seen. Now The Young and the Restless has added Ashland Locke and his wife Tara to the cast. It’s not clear if they will be temporary or have contract rolls but what is noticeable is that Doug Davidson is not being valued. Josh Griffith has not explained why he won’t use Paul in Genoa City and Eric Braeden who portrays Victor complained on social media that Dougie Davidson was not being treated fairly. It’s clear the veteran actor is frustrated with the way he has been treated but the powers that be don’t seem to care.

Some Y&R viewers agree that Davidson should walk away and not look back. Others say he will probably accept a call from the CBS daytime drama and return whrnever asked. It’s never been clear why certain legacy characters are being treated as Davidson says, like day players. This is certainly disrespectful to all that he and others have contributed over the years. The writers could come up with storylines for Paul Williams if they wanted to. By now they should realize that viewrs enjoy the veteran characters and don’t like nrw ones being brought in. Be on the lookout for updates related to Doug Davidson and whether or not he is done with The Young and the Restless.
