How sperm is created step by step:

Sperm are created through a process called spermatogenesis. This process occurs in the testicles and involves the following steps:

  1. Spermatogonia, the stem cells of the testicles, divide and differentiate into primary spermatocytes.
  2. The primary spermatocytes then undergo meiosis, a type of cell division that results in the creation of four genetically unique secondary spermatocytes.
  3. The secondary spermatocytes then divide again to form spermatids.
  4. Spermatids then undergo a process called spermiogenesis, which transforms them into fully mature sperm. This process includes the formation of the flagellum, or tail, which allows the sperm to move, and the development of the acrosome, a structure that helps the sperm fertilize an egg.
  5. The mature sperm are then transported to the epididymis, where they mature further before being ejaculated during ejaculation.

    This process involves several steps:

  5. Asthenozoospermia: These are sperm that have poor motility.
  6. Teratozoospermia: These are sperm that have abnormal shape.
  7. Oligozoospermia: These are sperm that have low concentration in semen.

Normal sperm: These are sperm that have a typical shape and size and are able to move and swim in a straight line. They have a rounded head and a long tail which propels them towards the egg. A normal sperm is considered to be healthy and have a greater chance of fertilizing an egg.

Abnormal sperm: These are sperm that have abnormal shape, size, or movement and may have difficulty fertilizing an egg. Abnormal sperm can have a variety of issues such as a large or small head, a double tail, or a curved tail. These sperm are less likely to fertilize an egg and may result in infertility.

Immotile sperm: These are sperm that lack the ability to move and swim, making it difficult for them to reach and fertilize an egg. Immotile sperm can be caused by genetic defects or medical conditions.

Necrospermia: These are sperm that have died and are no longer viable. Necrospermia can occur due to infection, inflammation or exposure to high temperatures.

Asthenozoospermia: These are sperm that have poor motility, meaning that they do not move or swim well. Asthenozoospermia can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetic defects, medical conditions, and environmental factors.

Teratozoospermia: These are sperm that have abnormal shape. Teratozoospermia can be caused by genetic defects, medical conditions, or environmental factors.

Oligozoospermia: These are sperm that have low concentration in semen. Oligozoospermia can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetic defects, medical conditions, and environmental factors.

It's important to note that most men produce a mixture of normal and abnormal sperm, and the presence of abnormal sperm does not necessarily mean a man is infertile. The best way to determine sperm health is through a semen analysis, which is typically done in a fertility clinic or a urology clinic.
