Come, Comfort

a poem

The simm’ring scent of hot chai tea,

A favorite book for me to read

A song to hear, I tap my toe

Some useless things I didn’t know

A smile plays gently on your face

My heart is peaceful, filled with grace

Old, worn shoes, some holey jeans

I close my eyes for sweet daydreams

My dog beneath my hand to pet

About as good as life can get

The sunset warm, casts pinkish glow

the stars above begin to show

Rolling waves, crackling fire

My lover here fills my desire

This Texas night, this perfect day

Bids me goodbye with sun’s last ray.

I sigh, content, put up my feet

With you right here, my life’s complete
