It is rare that we think of super intelligent people being Hollywood celebrities. Sure, there are some people that attain celebrity status because of their genius, like the late Stephen Hawking, or Einstein. This article is about people known for just being celebrities and not for their genius, who are geniuses.

I think social media has created celebrities out of people of less tfgghan average intelligence, but there are also many talented celebrities of high intelligence.

Natalie Portman

Has a psychology degree from Harvard. She also speaks 6 languages. Natalie also has twice published articles in scientific journals, which is impressive.

In highschool, Natalie co-authored a paper about a method for the production of hydrogen from sugar via enzymatic reactions.

Mayim Bialik

Who we know as ‘Blossom’ has a degree in neuroscience, Hebrew and Jewish studies. She was also accepted her into Harvard and Yale.

We also know her for her role in the show ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and to fit the genre of the show, she received her PHD in neuroscience in 2007.

Conan O’ Brien

Let’s move to talk show hosts, Conan O’ Brien, one of the longest working talk show hosts. Well, Conan has a Harvard connection too. Conan is a literature and history graduate, and he was president of the Harvard Lampoon comedy magazine. He graduated High School as Valedictorian in 1981. That’s top of the class there Conan, excellent. He won a national award for a short story he wrote called ‘To Bury the Living’, so from a young age, he established his career as a writer.

Jodie Foster

What about silence? Silence of the Lambs, that famous movie, well Jodie Foster known for her role in Silence of the Lambs and many other movies, was a gifted child. She could read when she was just 3 years old, and she loves foreign languages, and is competent in most European languages. She graduated ‘magna cum laude’ from Yale, for literature.

Sharon Stone

It’s all about instinct, you know, Basic Instinct the movie, who can forget Sharon Stone? Sharon is highly intelligent and when she was15, they awarded her a scholarship to Edinburgh University for creative writing and fine arts.

Sharon Stone has an IQ of 154, making her the most intelligent person in most rooms that she enters.

Dolph Lundgren

Things may be a little ‘Rocky,’ especially when you are the Russian villain in Rocky IV. Dolph Lundgren, the powerful Ivan Drago in the movie, is not all brawn and no brain. In fact, he seems to be more brain. He has a master's degree in Chemical Engineering, graduating from Sydney University.

He had undergraduate degrees from Washington State and Stockholm University, so the Swede is a true international scholar.

Matt Damon

Matt Damon, well his talent was too great for college. He wrote Goodwill Hunting, one of my favourite movies, while doing a playwriting course at Harvard. The fame came before he could complete his degree.

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale, famous for her role as Selene in Underworld and her roles in White out amongst others. Kate speaks Russian and French fluently as well as German. Kate studied French and Russian Literature at Oxford University.

James Franco

Now don’t Freak out or Geek out, there is an actor named James Franco famous for his role in ‘Freaks and Geeks’ and ‘The Pineapple Express’, ‘127 Hours’ amongst others. James Franco has two master's degrees, one for film making and another for creative writing.

David Duchovny

There are some actor stories that are classified. Take the case of ‘Fox Mulder,’ if you know who I am talking about, then you are an X - Files fan.

David Duchovny, who acts as Fox Mulder in the X - Files, has some pedigree in intelligence too. He earned a degree in English literature at Princeton. He wasn’t done. Shortly after that, he earned a master’s degree from Yale in English literature. I wonder what Scully thinks of that?

There we have it. I hope you enjoyed reading about some of the intellectual capital in Hollywood, you no doubt have more to add…
