5 Nigerian Celebrities We Lost in June 2023

June comes to an end tomorrow, and while it has been a tough year for so many Nigerians because of economic bruhahas and new policy changes, there are some people who are still suffering from the ultimate loss - the loss of a loved one. As we close out the month, I want to take time out to remember those who sadly passed away in this month of June. Here are 5 Nigerian celebrities we sadly lost this month.

1. Iyabo Oko

Nollywood actress Sidikat Odukanwi popularly known to the world as Iyabo Oko died on Wednesday, June 28, after a long battle with an undisclosed ailment. Iyabo Oko's daughter, Bisi Aisha, made the news known to the public when she shared on social media saying:

May ur soul Rest in Peace Mummy

She died at the age of 61

2. Hon. Garba Madami

A member of the 10th Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honorable Garba Madami died on June 17, four days after he was sworn-in to represent Chikun constituency in the state House of Assembly. He reportedly died of an undisclosed illness at a Kaduna hospital.

3. Don Brymo

Nollywood actor Mr Brymo Uchegbu who was popularly known in the industry as Don Brymo, died on Wednesday, June 14. The news of Don Brymo Uchegbu's death was made known to the public by Mr Mayor Ofoegbu, a well-known movie director in Nollywood who took to social media to confirm the news of Don Brymo's passing writing:

Plan for tomorrow but live for today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. I wrote those lines on my WhatsApp status yesterday evening. My man, my 5 & 6, Don Brymo Uchegbu, passed in his sleep.

I received the shocking news this morning and had to verify from his family. Chai! Don Brymo my manchi. It’s had to say goodbye. Nnukwu nwa na Enugu ukwu

He died at the age of 56 years old.

4. Sen. Annie Okonkwo

Senator Annie Okonkwo who formerly represented Anambra Central senatorial district in the National Assembly died in US after a long battle with a terminal illness.

He was 63 years old.

5. Afeez Agoro

'Nigeria's tallest man' Afeez Agoro Oladimiji died on June 14th.

According to reports, the 7ft 4in tall actor died on that night at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after reportedly battling chronic hip arthritis that was reportedly brought upon by acromegaly which he suffered.

Afeez Agoro died at the age of 48 years old.
