2022 is winding down and as horrible as the year was to some people, certain people got the absolute worst end of the stick. Death is always horrible news to hear and as the year rounds down, I want to take the time to remember 45 Nigerian Celebrities who unfortunately left us this year. Everybody on this list was so beloved and I hope that their gentle spirits rest in perfect peace. Without further ado, let's get into it.

1. Biyi Bandele

Nigerian novelist, playwright, and movie director Biyi Bandele most notable for directing "Blood Sisters" sadly passed away on August 17, 2022.

2. Sola Onayiga

Veteran actress, Sola Onayiga, most popular for playing the character of Ireti on "Fuji House of Commotion" passed away on the 18th of July, 2022.

3. Ada Ameh

Nollywood sensation, Ada Ameh, also passed away this year. The highly talented actress passed away in Warri, Delta State on 17th July, 2022 aged 48.

4. Slami Ifeanyi

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and former Mr. Anambra Universe Slami Ifeanyi was also announced dead on the 29th of November this year. He died from a gunshot in Anambra.

5. Lari Williams

The founding National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lari Williams, also died at the age of 81 on February 27, 2022, after a brief illness

6. Demola Seriki

Nigeria's Ambassador to Spain, Demola Seriki, died at the age of 63 on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Madrid, Spain.

7. Wantaregh Paul Unongo

Elder statesman and former Minister of Steel Development in the Second Republic, Wantaregh Paul Unongo, died on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

8. Seyi Awogbemi Sodiq

18-year-old Nigerian professional basketball player, Seyi Awogbemi Sodiq, died in Abuja on Saturday morning, November 19, 2022, a week to his 19th birthday.

9. Yemi The Plug

Nigerian social media influencer Yemi The Plug also died on the 29th of November, 2022 after suffering from an asthma attack.

10. Dablixx Osha

Nigerian rapper, Dablixx Osha Marleba, died on the 7th of November, 2022 at the age of 27.

11. Bishop Humphrey Olumakaiye

The archbishop of Lagos province (Anglican Communion), Humphrey Olumakaiye, passed away on the 30th of October, 2022 aged 53 years old.

12. Tidinz

Nigerian rapper Tidinz also died on the 9th of October, 2022 at the age of 26.

13. Maigari of Lokoja, Maikarfi III

The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Kabir Maikarfi III, died at age 80 on Wednesday, 28th of Septemer, 2022 after a brief illness at a hospital in Abuja.

14. Rico Swavey

Big Brother Naija and media personality Rico Swavey also passed away the 13th of October, 2022 following a car accident two days prior.

15. Chukwunonye Irouno

Chukwunonye Irouno, a Labour Party candidate for Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State House of Assembly, died on the 5th of December, 2022 in his home in Owerri.

16. Funminiyi Afuye

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, also passed away on the 19th of October, 2022 at the age of 66.

17. Chop Boii

Nigerian singer Chop Boii was brutally killed alongside his producer and others in a house in Gwarimpa, Abuja in September of 2022.

18. Mike Aboh

Mike Aboh, member of the defunct music group Zule Zoo popular for song "Kerewawa", died earlier this year around June of 2022 when he collapsed while taking his bath.

19. Davidson Johnson

Nollywood actor and voice-over artiste, Johnson Davidson, died on Thursday morning, June 2nd, 2022, after a long battle with kidney failure and other illnesses.

20. Madam Social

Social media comedienne who became viral for humorously dishing out advice died on June 7, 2022 at the age of 81.

21. Baba Atoli

Nollywood actor, Olaniyi Raji aka Baba Atoli, was announced dead on June 23, 2022 after his battle with an undisclosed ailment for over a year.

22. Olori Kafayat

Olori Kafayat Adeyemi, one of the wives of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, died on July 1st in the United States of America.

23. Nura Mustapha Wye

Nura Mustapha Waye, a Kannywood movie director, passed away when he went to bed on July 2nd and didn't wake up the following day.

24. Olusegun Popoola

Lawmaker representing Ibadan South-East constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Segun Ademola Popoola, died in the early hours of Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after battling liver and kidney related ailments.

25. Kemi Nelson

South-West women leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, died on July 17, 2022 at the age of 66 after a prolonged illness.

26. Mimi

Nigerian TikToker Mimi, died on 18th of July, 2022 under what her friends described as mysterious circumstances.

27. Prof. Lateef Akanni Hussein

Former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Lateef Akanni Hussein, also died earlier this year on July 31, 2022 at the age of 75.

28. Tafa Balogun

One-time Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun also died earlier this year on August 4th in a Lekki hospital aged 74 years old.

29. Otu Njama

Nollywood filmmaker, Otu Njama, passed away on August 9th, 2022 in his home in Badore, Ajah, Lagos.

30. Tijjani Ibrahim

Jigawa Central All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Alhaji Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya died on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in a hospital in China where he was being treated for a lung infection.

31. Nnamdi Okafor

Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr Nnamdi Okafor, died in the early hours of Tuesday, August 23, in a hotel at Sandton City, Johannesburg.

32. Osinachi Nwachukwu

Nigerian gospel singer Sister Osinachi Nwachukwu died in an Abuja hospital on Friday April 8, 2022.

33. Chinedu Nwadike

Gospel artiste, Chinedu Nwadike also died earlier this year on Sunday, March 27, after a long battle with chronic kidney disease.

34. Justice Christopher

Former Super Eagles player, Justice Christopher, died at the age of 40 on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

35. Leo Mezie

Nollywood actor Leo Mezie died on Saturday, May 14, after a long battle with kidney disease.

36. Eric Dakogol

Eric Dakogol, the lawmaker representing Qu’anpan North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly died in Jos, the state capital, on Monday afternoon, November 21 2022.

37. Sobur Olayiwola Olawale

The lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Sobur Olayiwola Olawale, died in November of 2022 in Jos, Plateau State.

38. Tafa Oloyede

Yoruba actor, John Adewuni (popularly called Tafa Oloyede) died at his residence in Osogbo on February 1, at the age of 69.

39. Ibrahim Aminu Kurami

Dr Ibrahim Aminu Kurami, the lawmaker representing Bakori LGA in Katsina State House of Assembly died in Saudi Arabia where he went to perform Umrah in November of 2022.

40. David Bamgbose

Prof David Bamgbose, Ogun state governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) died at Lantoro Hospital, Abeokuta after a brief illness on Friday morning, September 2.

41. David Osagie

Nollywood actor Sir David Osagie died in May of this year just hours after he was on set shooting a movie.

42. Orlando Julius

Veteran highlife musician, Orlando Julius, died on Friday, April 15, at the age of 79.

43. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, on Friday night, April 22nd aged 83 years old.

44. Ifeanyi Adeleke

Son of Nigerian singer, Davido, Ifeanyi Adeleke died after reportedly drowning in a pool on October 31, 2022 aged 3 years old.

45. Sammie Okposo

Nigerian gospel singer Sammie Okposo was announced dead on the 25th of November, 2022.
