'The Walking Dead' Fleshes Out The History Of The Show In Two-Hour Special!

If you are new to The Walking Dead — and binging on rotting flesh isn't really your bag — then fear not, AMC has the perfect solution to get you all caught up in time for the seventh season. The Walking Dead: Journey So Far airs on October 16 on AMC, offering those new to the show (seriously, where have you been?) a chance to catch up, or avid fans a refresher on how not to die in a zombie apocalypse. Expect it to be like a two hour Game of Thrones "In Memoriam," but with less bastards and more bullets.

If that doesn't have you hungry for more flesh, AMC's press release promises that a few familiar faces will pop by for the special:

Season by season, from the moment Rick wakes up in the hospital (as told by Andrew Lincoln), all the way to the excruciating first swing of Negan’s bat (told by Jeffery Dean Morgan and others in the lineup), the story of “The Walking Dead” will be told by those who have lived it. “The Walking Dead: Journey So Far” gives viewers who have never seen an episode of “The Walking Dead” a chance to get all caught up on the plot, characters, locations, and unique terminology of the series as well as providing fans who‘ve never missed a moment with fresh interviews with the series’ producers and their favorite actors as part of an exciting refresher course that will further whet their appetite for the new season.

While AMC remains tight-lipped on who else will be "spilling their guts" on the journey thus far, fan-favorites like Carol (Melissa McBride), Michonne (Danai Gurira), and Morgan (Lennie James) will probably be there. With the shocking season finale raking in an impressive 14.19 million viewers, hopes are high for the seventh season. Thankfully the show is still a way off catching up to its comic book counterpart, which is currently on issue 158.

Season 7 will kick off with lives ripped apart, and at least one of our members missing a chunk of skull thanks to the wire-wrapped baseball bat, Lucille. Having made it this far, our group of intrepid survivors now finds themselves in Negan's world. The Walking Dead: Journey So Far is the perfect accompaniment to the season premiere on October 23, reminding us what makes the show great. From a baby-faced Chandler Riggs, to the wonders of Woodbury, the terror of Terminus, horrors of the hospital, and all the loss in between, presumably the retrospective will also HAVE to dedicate a small amount of time to the incredibly slow Season 2, but you win some, you lose some!
