As the sun began to set over the small town of Millfield, Indiana, a feeling of unease settled over the community. Rumors had been spreading for weeks about a mysterious stranger who had been seen lurking around the outskirts of town, and no one knew what his intentions were.

Nora Thompson had heard the rumours, but she didn't believe them at first. She had lived in Millfield her entire life and had never known anything like this to happen. But then, last night, she had been driving home from her job at the local diner when she saw him.

He was tall and thin, dressed all in black, with a hood pulled over his head. He was walking along the side of the road, his steps slow and deliberate. Nora had slowed down as she passed him, watching him in her rearview mirror until he disappeared from sight.

That was when the fear set in. She couldn't shake the feeling that he was watching her, following her, and she couldn't stop imagining all the terrible things he might do.

Nora tried to put the stranger out of her mind as she drove home, but when she pulled into her driveway, she saw him again. He was standing at the edge of her property, just beyond the reach of her porch light. She froze, her hand gripping the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles turned white.

The stranger didn't move. He just stood there, watching her.

Nora forced herself to take a deep breath and reach for her phone. She dialed 911, trying to keep her voice steady as she told the dispatcher what she had seen. The dispatcher told her to stay put and lock her doors until the police arrived.

Nora hung up and sat in her car, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't shake the feeling that the stranger was still out there, waiting for her. She looked around, trying to spot him in the darkness, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly, her phone rang. It was a number she didn't recognize, but she answered it anyway.

"Hello?" she said, her voice trembling.

There was a long pause on the other end of the line, and then a deep, raspy voice spoke.

"I know you saw me, Nora," the voice said. "And now I'm coming for you."

Nora's blood ran cold. She fumbled with the lock on her car door, trying to get out, but her hands were shaking too badly. She could hear footsteps approaching her car, and she knew that she was out of time.

Just as the stranger reached her car, she saw flashing blue lights in the distance. The police had arrived.

The stranger took off running, disappearing into the darkness. Nora sat in her car, shaking and crying, until the police approached her.

They took her statement and promised to increase patrols in the area. But Nora couldn't shake the feeling that the stranger was still out there, watching her.

Over the next few days, the police interviewed everyone in town, trying to find any information about the stranger. But no one knew anything about him. He was a complete mystery.

As the days passed, the town slowly began to return to normal. But Nora couldn't shake the feeling that the stranger was still out there, watching her every move. She didn't feel safe in her own home, and she started carrying pepper spray with her everywhere she went.

One night, as she was leaving work, she saw him again. He was standing in the shadows, watching her. She froze, her heart pounding in her chest.

But then, the stranger spoke.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't mean to scare you. I just needed some help."

Nora was taken aback. She had never expected.
