The Graveyard Shift

By Jesse Hartman

It all began on one evening at a secluded gas station, Sean was heading to work, he works the night shift at the gas station, when he arrived, his friend was getting ready to leave, before he did they started talking. After the conversation the two parted ways and Sean started working. Not much happened at the start of his shift, but when it started to get really late in the night, strange things started to happen, the lights would flicker, the cooler’s would shut off and turn back on, stuff would fall off the shelves, and strange things like that. All of this was really strange to him because none of this ever happened there before so he was really confused about it. After all that he tried to ignore all of it and get back to work, and so he did, later he was taking out the garbage and he started to hear rustling in the woods right next to him, as soon as he heard that he ran back inside and locked the door.

After he locked the door a car pulled up at the gas pump, so Sean went back to the register. After a while a guy walked in, Sean greeted him but the guy didn’t say anything back, Sean didn’t think much about it, until the guy walked up to the register. When the guy walked up to the register, Sean got a little nervous because the guy was a little off, he kept looking around, looking over his shoulder and stuff like that, a few moments later the guy left and Sean went back to work. Sean was on the computer and out of the corner of his eye he saw someone walking into the back room of the gas station, he thought this was weird because he is supposed to be the only person there, so he got up to see if he could find the person but he found no one. After that he heard a car pull up so he ran back to the register but when he looked outside he didn’t see anything, so after that he decided to call the police because he thought that there was someone messing with him but the call wouldn’t go through, so he decided to lock the doors.

After he locked the doors he was walking around the gas station to make sure that nobody was in there with him. He went around the station multiple times and didn’t find anyone, and then he heard a knock at the front door and he walked to the door and saw that no one was there, and after that he started to hear noises all around him and he started to get more and more terrified. Sean then heard a knock at the door and he looked and saw something standing at the door looking right at him. The creature didn’t look like it was from Earth it looked like it was from some other dimension. Sean was frozen with fear and he didn’t know what to do, after that the creature broke through the door and started to run after him.

Sean was running for his life all around the station, and he ended up outside, he tripped and fell and the creature was right on top of him and as it was about to attack him the sun was starting to come up. And the creature noticed that and ran off into the woods, Sean got up and gathered himself and went back inside. He did his best to clean up the mess the creature left but it was all too much for him to clean up, so he decided to wait for his friend to show up, because he works the day shift. After Sean’s friend showed up Sean told him that he quits and he left, and as he got in his car and drove off he couldn’t help but wonder is the guy that showed up there somehow related to the events that happened at the gas station or not, but he also can’t explain all of the noises that he heard and the lights flashing, but I guess that all remains a mystery.
