Chapter 1:

Emely hated to move again. She just moved into this house not even one year ago. And then, so fast. What had happened that they had to move again?

Emely was a 14-year old teenager full of life. But something had changed. Her mother seemed to be a wreck. Over the last few months, she began to talk to herself. She was paranoid and got angry very quickly. Her mom Amanda was raising her daughter by herself. Emily's father left them when the child was only 3-months old. Her father left one night and never came back. That's what her mom told her a while ago. Emmely felt guilty. She thought he left her because he hated her.

That was not true. The girl's dad was just a drunk, and he would have left anyway.

But this move to a different state bothered her. It was hard enough to make friends, and as soon as she starts to build relationships with her classmates, they had to leave. Emmely asked her mom why? She didn't want to tell her the reason at first. But Emmely didn't give up. She was stubborn until her mom told her.

Amanda screamed at Emmely with her eyes wide open. She looked like a Demon.

"Because I didn't pay the rent for a while, and all the other bills are past due too! Are you happy now? Anything else you wanna know?" Emmely stepped back and was scared of her mom for the first time in her life.

The teenager felt like a little kid at this moment. The frightened teen went into her room to pack her things into boxes. She said on her bed and folded her hands into her lap. She looked around and said to herself how much she liked this room and how much she would miss it. As the angry voice from her mother ribbed the girl right out of her daydream.

"You better hurry with packing your crap Missy. We are leaving soon! Packed or not." Emmely thought very quickly of the most important thing she wanted to bring. That was her favorite teddy she loved so much. Her grandmother gave it to her when she was 1-year old for her birthday. Sadly, her grandmother had passed away 5-years ago. She died of a heart attack. That was even more of a reason to bring that old teddy.

She throws her clothes into a box and some other small things. Emmely grabbed the box and ran downstairs, where her mother already waited at the door.

" I am coming, mom!" Emily screamed, running downstairs right by her mother.

The next thing she heard was the sound of the slamming door.

Emily hurried to get her box into the trunk, slammed it closed, and jumped into the back seat.

She knew she was allowed to drive ib the passenger seat, but after what had happened earlier, she felt safer in the back.

Her mom came to the car, looking more around herself than where she was going.

She almost dripped over the sidewalk. Finally she in the driver's seat and we took off. Amanda didn't stop looking all over the place until they left town. That's when she started to talk to Emely again.

Do you want to know we're going?" she asked. Like nothing happened. Emely left out a shy yes.

Well, I am sick and tired of the city, so I decided to buy a house in the country." But where, mom?" Emely wanted to know.

"Just wait and see. Amanda said with a smile on her face.

Emely didn't know what to think about that whole surprise thing. Hours later the two arrived at the new house. Emely had fallen asleep and when she woke up and her eyes were not blurry no more she was shocked. There was it. The new home. Out in nowhere.

She opened the door and step out of the car right into a big puddle. "Great!" she thought and had already enough. But there was nothing she could do about it. Nothing about the house anyway. Amanda seemed to be extremely happy. That made Emily happy too. Maybe that was what her mom needed. Perhaps, it was not as bad after all.

Time to go inside and look around. Emely took her box out of the trunk and walked to the front door. Amanda was still in the car. She was enjoying a quiet environment with a cigarette. As the girl waited for her mom to unlock the door, a weird feeling came over her. A feeling she had never experienced before.

Something made her look up to the window above her. She dropped the box and screamed:" Mom, look at the window above me. A girl is looking out of it!" But her mother couldn't hear her. Her mom went inside the car. She had to take some stuff out. Emely ran over to the car and pulled Amanda out of the door. She pointed at the house and told her mom what she saw in the window. Her voice was shaking. Her mother looked at the window, but there was nothing to see. Amanda laid her arms around her daughter to calm her down. She said to her:" Emely, you are just tired and imagined the girl. But that was no explanation for the girl. Yes, she was tired, but the girl was sure of what she saw. Amand took her daughter by the hand, and both walked together to the door to open it and start a new life. A better life.

But things should change soon. Nobody could imagine what lurked inside the house.
