The Backrooms Decrypted: Electrical Station (Level 3)

The Electrical Station is another name for The Backrooms Level 3. It is UNSAFE, UNSECURE, and contains a MEDIUM ENTITY COUNT with a CLASS 4 survival difficulty rating. Long, dim, winding hallways make up Level 3, which functions similarly to Level 0. They are all made up of randomly divided rooms that don't form in any particular pattern and are very noisy from the sounds of machinery. The hallways are extremely small and enclosed; some even force people of average height and build to bend, hunch, crawl, or walk sideways through them. Despite being somewhat dangerous, Level 3 is known as a hotspot for supply bases. This is due to the abundance of resources found in Level 3, including Almond Water, False Outlets, Liquid Pain, Fire salt, Royal Rations, Squirt Guns, and Bottled Lightning.

The Backrooms: Electrical Station (Level 3)
  • Hey there, Explorer. You're still stuck in the backrooms, which is not surprising considering that no one has ever managed to escape this awful location. But who knows—maybe you'll be the first. I apologize; I just found the idea amusing. Please ignore me. Anyway, where were we on your tortuous, prolonged journey deeper into obscurity? You've opened the door and entered a new space. Below you, a floor made of dusty, white tiles that look like filed bone is waiting for you.
      • The steel gates were covered in deposits of crusted-on rust and corrosion, and there was an unforgiving metal ceiling above them. Standing on either side of you are two old, cracked brick walls that appear to have seen better days. Some areas of the walls even have the sound of scratching nails. Pipes wind up and down the wall, hissing and gurgling, while cracks leak a thick, toxic liquid that is so bad it makes you queasy just to look at it. As if you were imprisoned inside the stomach of a massive metal beast, machinery can be heard humming, whirring, sparking, and roaring in the distance. Your skin prickles from the heat.
      • You're not sure if you saw anything move in the distance. The only thing you are aware of is that, almost instinctively, your hand moves toward the revolver and the few bullets in your pocket. You feel as though you might soon require them. You just walked into hell, so why would you need them? or, as we refer to it in this area, Level 3 of the Backrooms. Make yourself at home. After all, it could turn out to be where you're laid to rest. You inhale deeply and move forward along the first corridor. As you go further into the hall, the machinery seems to become increasingly louder. It is the metallic, grinding embodiment of fear.
    • If your fear could be heard right now, it would sound exactly like that. Silent Hill Otherworld, eat your heart out. Prior to arriving here, you were unaware of how highly you valued your interactions with other people. Level 3 feels like loneliness has enormous, ravenous jaws and a mouth full of gnashing, grinding metal teeth. In spite of the fact that you have no way of knowing it, Level 3 is one of the Backrooms' largest levels.
    • Approximately 350 million square miles, or more than fourteen times the circumference of the earth, are thought to make up its area. Because of this, there is a very low chance that you will actually encounter another person inside. But hey, keep your chin up; there are still plenty of other things you're way more likely to encounter down here. You continue walking, attempting to block out the sound and the fear. You keep repeating this to yourself like a mantra in the hopes that it will give you courage as you approach a rusted iron door and pull it open with a whining, high-pitched screech.
                • You've made it this far; that's got to count for something, right? You tremble at the sound. You try to remain discrete whenever possible because your time spent in the backrooms taught you that drawing attention to yourself here is a very bad idea. Down here, there are many things you don't want people to notice. You'll soon encounter one of them, so don't wait around. You move through the endless maze of filthy, bricked-up hallways. It has a similar intricate and maze-like spatial design to Level 0, but with all of Level 2's industrial grease and grime.
                • It almost had the potential to be nostalgic if you weren't so terrified of it. Regarding that, you give yourself a sinister chuckle. What an odd experience this whole thing had been. Ironically, it really made you appreciate the life you had fled. The space has a strange expansiveness, but the individual rooms and hallways are not all that uniform. You continue moving forward because you've come to realize that it's your only option down here. You may occasionally be walking through large, ominous tunnels that are lined with hissing pipes.
              • There are times when the passageways are so small that you must lie down and crawl along on your belly to avoid the ceiling that seems to be lowering all the time. It resembles a funhouse without any of the fun. You enter a narrow, slimy hallway and turn to the side to try to avoid the sludge running down the bricks. You feel even more anxious simply because you haven't seen anything yet. Knowing that there are many beings out there who want to track you down and give you a new definition of agony gives the anticipation a boost.
            • There are millions of miles of hellish passageways and rooms. A huge, cavernous passageway with a curved metal roof is discovered as you proceed. You can make out a metal grate that divides the passageway in half and resembles prison bars off in the distance. You cautiously approach the bars while glancing toward the darkness in the distance. Beyond the darkness, is there a single flickering light that you can make out? Can you make out anyone standing in the light? You move a little bit closer until you are almost touching the bars. The shape in the distance vanishes out of the light at that point.
          • There is something about these bars that makes you feel dreadful, though it's difficult to explain. It seems as though you feel trapped when you look at them. It feels as though you are being watched from a great distance by a pair of enormous, invisible eyes. You are being observed. But how and why do you force your body through the bars against all of your better judgment? In an effort to uncover a lock or other weakness in the metal, you try to rattle the gate, but you are unsuccessful. It will not budge. But hey, if it helps, you won't be the first person to lose to these paranormal bars. To the best of our knowledge, they are totally resistant to any kind of infiltration technique.
        • Brute forces, pliers, industrial flamethrowers, even explosives, lock picking, and so on. You have no recourse. So you decide to cut your losses and keep looking rather than pursue the problem. Surely, there are still more bizarre things to find in this area. You might be surprised to learn that Level 3 of the Backrooms is known as the Electrical Station, and you're about to learn why. When you discover a door that appears different, curiosity takes the place of your nerves. It resembles an entrance to a service elevator, but there are no buttons to call or open the elevator.
      • Instead, you force open the door and enter the cabin's eerily bright interior. When you're secure inside, however—there are no buttons inside either—you should move on. It automatically closes behind you. Tiny elevator music starts to play as the elevator moves, and machinery noises are audible. Gradually increases the distance.

    • That's a good thing, you say. The elevator groans to a stop. When there is a brief period of silence, you start to wonder what is actually happening. The door opens just as you start to fear that it won't. On the other side, there is something entirely different. As we continue to explore the backrooms in greater detail, be sure to stay tuned. How much deeper is this liminal abyss?
