Kristy AndersonPublished 3 years ago in HorrorMy Unpopular Opinion about "Them"
I have never watched a show that made me feel so many emotions at once. This story inspired me as an aspiring film writer. "THEM" showed me another side of America. The writers and producers of the show brought to light excruciating perspectives. I can honestly say this is one of my top favorites.
The Haunting of Hill House: Beautiful Horror Masterpiece, Tragic Family Drama, or Both?
Netflix’s latest limited series The Haunting of Hill House is a chilling fantasy tale about a family broken apart by the spirits of their childhood home, one of the most haunted houses in America. While there are certainly ghosts and ghouls walking the halls of the titular Hill House, the family’s eclectic cases of mental illness, psychological trauma, and isolation fuel these nightmares and help deliver an authentically human horror story. Though creator/director Mike Flanagan may not have a perfect track record, his most effective work in the horror/thriller genre includes includes 2013’s Oculus , 2016’s Hush , and, in his first partnership with Netflix, 2017’s Gerald’s Game.
Sour Hall - Audio Drama Review
Doctor Who's Pearl Mackie and Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon star in Sour Hall, based on the short story by Naomi Booth. The six-part drama follows Ash and George, an interracial lesbian couple who move to an isolated farm high up on the Yorkshire moors. As they settle into their new life as dairy farmers, a boggart sets about tormenting both of them, exacerbating the sources of their pain and gorging on their energy, ruining George’s dairy products, and distancing the couple from one another.
Wynona Earp
When it comes to television, I am a person to who can weigh in. I am a stay-at-home mom who barely sleeps. I go from one show to the next in rapid succession. Many an evening is spent clacking away writing stories, cleaning the kitchen, or being semi comatose on the couch. This brings me to my latest binge. Wynona Earp. I would say if you like the supernatural, a lot of darkness carved out with humor, add Wynona Earp to your list of must watch shows.
Kelly MorrisPublished 3 years ago in HorrorWhat We Do In The Basement
In 2019, a television show shot in mockumentary style followed the exploits of four vampires living on Staten Island. I am referring, of course, to Taika Waititi’s What We Do in the Shadows, a TV spinoff from Waititi’s 2014 film with the same title. I remember hearing about it, briefly. I thought it sounded like my kind of show, but then I forgot about it again until the middle of 2020 when I saw the show referenced in a video essay about vampires in movies and television.

When I tell people about “Dark Shadows”, the gothic soap opera that aired on ABC television between 1966 and 1971, I typically get one of two reactions: “Are you talking about that weird Johnny Depp vampire movie that wasn’t very good?” or “Are you seriously recommending me a black and white, 50-year-old horror soap opera?”.

If Psycho, then Bates Motel You ever watched the classic 1960 horror film, Psycho? Well, if you have, and if you liked it, then you would probably love Bates Motel. It revolves around the lives of Norman and Norma Bates, a bizarre mother-son duo that are lovable as well as creepy. It dives into what led Norman to become the killer he is in Psycho, as well as going past that to its own ending of the story. If you like psychological horror or thrillers, then this is for you.
Hallie CalvinPublished 3 years ago in HorrorIf Watchmen Then Definitely, Lovecraft Country
We’ve all been there before; feeling empty, because we somehow finished all the episodes of a series we were watching not knowing what to do with ourselves after. Only to be left with so many questions and thoughts. That will only be answered; when another season comes out, but when will that be you think? Until then, you decide to start a new TV series to help the wait of your favorite show to return. However, picking a new TV show to watch after you just recently finished one; can be a little tricky. If you have ever watched the HBO hit WatchMen, then you should probably check out the Golden Globe nomination, Lovecraft Country on HBO.
Arneisha ManningPublished 3 years ago in HorrorWhy not try a BEDTIME STORY instead?
Have you ever experienced something that you just couldn’t quite figure out? Well not in a scientific or logical way but to you was as real as being alive! Do you still think about it? Has it left you confused and wondering exactly what it was you had seen, felt, heard or even interacted with? I had my first experience at the age of three. I have always remembered it and thought about it often. However, it wasn’t until my eighteenth birthday party when my dad had told me some history about the place we had lived in back when I was three. I was fixated on every word emitting out of his mouth. Completely wide eyed at what he was telling me and in that moment everything suddenly became clearly vivid and actually made sense to me. Almost as though what I had experienced all those years previous had been validated, made real. At least in my mind. It’s one thing to have an unexplained encounter on your own but to share certain happenings of an unnatural occurrence with others really resonates in a comforting , yet somewhat eerie way.
The Tale of the Chosen Ones
Tale of the Chosen Ones “Into every generation a slayer is born: one girl in all the world, a chosen one. She alone will wield the strength and skill to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their number. She is the Slayer."
