Haunted Hollywood Studios
There are celebrities who have passed away and appear to reprise their roles from beyond the grave at the studios where they became famous. Security guards and technicians who had to work at night in some of the older movie studios in Hollywood have had some hair-raising experiences. One such long-time employee said, ”I’ve seen some things here that I wouldn’t want to try and explain to anyone!”

This is a frightening tale of Witches and angry mobs! Many centuries ago, when men were far more superstitious of the occult and its many dark secrets; a lot of people were petrified of female spell casters, otherwise known as Witches. The myths spread far and wide across England and America, tales of old hags with pointy hats, abducting children, casting despicable curses and flying on broomsticks. Oh, it may seem so silly and laughable now, but back then; it was very much a serious threat! However, whether or not you believe in the occult, there is a very real tragedy behind these true tales. That is, of the wrongly accused! Those innocent poor women who were hunted down and tortured or killed, because many believed them to be devil worshippers or Witches themselves. The following is a tale, although fictional, is entirely based around these dreadful events. That of a Witch Hunt within the American town of Salem, Massachusetts, during the year of 1692.

The rain fell particularly hard that night. Agent Michael Durwood clutched the steering wheel of an armored van as it sped down a rarely-used highway. Beside him, Agent Reyna Philips sat in the passenger seat, flipping through a folder in her lap.

It all started when my wife died eight months ago. Susan was everything to me. We had been together since high school, and it had been love at first sight. We married after graduation and had spent eighteen years together in wedded bliss. I worked as a writer, finding jobs in editing or column writing, Susan working as a receptionist for a friend of my mother. We spent a lot of time together, my days spent mostly waiting for her to come home. I lived for the moments when we were sitting in front of the TV together or curled together in bed as we talked about our day. We never had children, though it wasn’t for a lack of trying. I was afraid she would leave me when she discovered I was infertile, I’d been injured when I was small, but she just smiled and said we would just have to be satisfied with each other.

Aldo was proud of his yellow rose bush. His critical eye focused on the individual branches: most of them had between 5 and 7 buds, one branch had only one, and another had none at all. In this way, the bush was unbalanced to the left and had to be corrected. He was ready to cut the guilty branches, when, lowering his gaze, he noticed the trickle of water reaching the base of the bush.

The Abandoned Mansion
In the middle of night, when the moon was low and the woodland was cloaked in fog, a lone wanderer came across an abandoned mansion nestled amid the trees. Its once-grand facade had become decrepit and frightening, with windows boarded up like the eyes of a long-forgotten phantom. Ignoring the wind's warnings, the traveler pushed open the groaning gate and entered, attracted by an unfathomable force.

In the shadow of the abandoned Ferris wheel, the rusted skeleton reaching towards a perpetually grey sky, lived the legend of "The Midnight Caller." Whispered amongst teenagers, it was a story dismissed by adults as mere folly. Anyone who called a specific number at precisely midnight, it was said, would hear a chilling message from beyond the grave.

SPOILERS!!! Oh yeah, it's that bad. We're starting with the spoilers. Now, to be fair, it is Good-Bad or "So Bad It's Good." In fact, this was the movie I was promised when I originally heard reviews about The Sand (2015). That movie was actually unfairly maligned, because, yeah it was low budget, yeah it had bad acting, yeah it had shit CGI, but for the most part it was good enough for horror, and even pretty smart. This movie is what I expect when people say "So Bad It's Good." So if you're looking for good riffing material, watch this, not The Sand. The Sand isn't actually all that bad.
