The Floor Breathes ⟡
⟡ Martha knew she was dreaming, but in the way you know you’re falling - too late to stop. She stood in a long corridor lined with mismatched doors. Some were carved wood, others metal, one made of frosted glass that seemed to pulse faintly. The floor beneath her bare feet was warm, almost too warm, as if alive.

The Kaidan of Mount Hotaka. Content Warning.
I clutched my tickets as I boarded the plane to Japan, and loaded my suitcase and bags into the compartments. I sat in my seat, looking at the tickets again, smiling to myself. I was excited to experience the culture, eat authentic food, and explore some of the world's most beautiful landscapes with my fellow adventurers. Every year, we go on a global excursion. We all think of places to go and cast a vote.

The Hoop Snake: America’s Rolling Serpent of the Wilderness
Long before America became a nation… before highways cut through forests and cities swallowed the frontier… there were stories. Stories carried by settlers, trappers, and travelers who vanished into the wilderness for weeks at a time.

Don't Open the Cellar Door
1 Best selling novelist Cameron Sanders moved into the house in the middle of the woods. Mr. Barnes, the realtor, walked into the kitchen. Mr. Barnes spoke loudly. “You’re a brave soul,” Mr. Barnes joked. His smile did not quite reach his eyes. “This house is very haunted.” Cameron nodded. “I’m writing a ghost story,” he said. “I crave isolation and inspiration.” “You can have plenty of inspiration here,” Mr. Barnes said. “That basement door stays locked.” “Why?” Cameron asked. “It’s the heart of the haunting,” Mr. Barnes said flatly. His tone made Cameron shiver. “He said that too flatly,” Cameron thought. “I have to get going now,” Mr. Barnes said. “Alright,” Cameron said quietly. “Take care my friend.” The men shook hands and Mr. Barnes departed. The screen door closing was evidence of his departure. Cameron grabbed his car keys and headed to the grocery store. Smooth jazz played in the background. Snake skin cowboy boots clacked against the floor as Cameron walked. The metallic clanging of the shopping cart echoed as he walked through the fruit aisle. He squeezed a melon to test its firmness. He placed it in the cart and kept walking. The aisle reeked of weed as he passed a black customer vaping too loudly on his phone. “Take that shit outside,” Cameron thought to himself. He turned the corner. He bought some bacon, milk, and a couple of dinners. Then he checked out. While waiting in line a pretty blonde named Zoey tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and visually took her in. She has tan skin, blonde hair, and green eyes. She is wearing jean shorts and a sleeveless red shirt. “Aren’t you Cameron Sanders?” Zoey asked.

Every Night at 3:33, Something Knocks—But No One’s There
It started with a single knock. Not loud. Not aggressive. Just… deliberate. I remember waking up suddenly, my heart already racing like my body knew something my mind didn’t. The room was dark, quiet except for the soft hum of the ceiling fan. I turned my head toward the glowing clock on my bedside table.

The Warehouse Shift
I only took the overnight warehouse shift because I needed the money. Less people. Less talking. Just scanning, stacking, loading. Twelve hours of repetition under fluorescent lights that buzzed like they were thinking about dying but hadn’t committed yet.
