White Wake. Runner-Up in Stay a While Challenge.
The boat was smaller than most people expected when they heard the word chartered, which is why Evelyn had chosen it. The guests laughed about that when they boarded, but Evelyn knew it would be perfect. Intimate. Romantic. Exclusive. Her groom had kissed her temple and told her it was perfect.

Sundown. Honorable Mention in Stay a While Challenge.
Bleached white by the sun, an old church's broken bones stand sentinel by the roadside. Throwing out long, grasping shadows. Thin dark fingers that reach across the cracked asphalt, stretching longer as day slowly dies.

The Hollow at Black Creek. Content Warning.
t The Hollow at Black Creek Walking home that Friday afternoon felt no different than any other. Then the air changed. It didn’t smell like rain, but there was a faint hint of grapes. The sunset stained the sky like a fresh bruise. Guinevere knew those colors all too well.

I'd scalp the baldy bastid later and then scoop oot the brain for using tae flavour the soup.

New Nacogdoches. Winner in Stay a While Challenge.
Forksdale is behind us, and dusk is falling when we reach the boundary of Lower Nicola, and steer our mounts into the moon-silvered field off the highway's shoulder. I’d passed the 97C turnoff once in the 20’s, cruising home from a forestry gig in Lillooet (this was back when the mines were still coughing up red ore). My brother'd cowboyed for Douglas Lake Ranch, then; I’d stop off to see him on the road home to Kamloops. Tk̓emlúps, where the rivers meet. Like Forksdale, where the rivers fork, but less colonial.
