The Last Room. Runner-Up in Out of the Dream Challenge.
I was searching for a room I could no longer remember. That certainty existed before anything else I could call thought. There was no memory of entering this place, no recollection of what came before, and no clear sense of identity beyond the motion of continuing forward. Even the idea of my name felt distant, like something written on a page I could no longer open. Still, the purpose remained intact with unsettling clarity: somewhere ahead lay a room I needed to reach, and everything about me moved in service of that single direction.

Hunter's Moon. Honorable Mention in Out of the Dream Challenge. Top Story - June 2026.
Joe’s heart was hammering wildly and his breath came in ragged gasps. His feet crunched over the gravel trail as he ran. Instinctively, he knew that something was badly wrong in his world, but his memory was a blank.

Wrath's Inferno. Top Story - June 2026. Content Warning.
I rub the tiredness from my eyes and crane my neck to listen in the dead of night. I swear I heard a door open. I wave off the thought. It’s probably just my imagination from all of my late nights at work; the doors were locked before I came up. A creaking floorboard stops my heart in my chest, sending a maddening pulse into my ears. Someone is here. Ice slides through my veins with every footstep ascending the staircase and drawing closer. Forcing my stunned limbs into action, I creep along the floor to my window and hide behind my bed like a child. Every too noisy breath dares to give away my position.

The Stairway Down. Content Warning.
It was a familiar, unfamiliar place. It was a hazy twilight; a realm of transcendence he felt he had been to, perhaps once in a dream or before he had been born. Yet, he was a total stranger here. There wasn’t much memory left of anything… not where he came from, or where he was going. He didn’t know where his body ended and where his external world began, or if they had all melted into one. He couldn’t tell what was sound or light, or feel the temperature of his skin. He didn’t even remember his name.

We Grope Together . Winner in Out of the Dream Challenge.
Something was amiss. It had been an okay day, I thought. Sunny, warm, no one starting a fight. We’d been out, my brother and my dad and I. Somewhere up beyond the gate where the village ran out and the nothing started. We’d been out there and it had been a benevolent place, which it could be, when it wanted, and now we were on our way back, the three of us, walking down the lane between the Fisher cottage, low slung and honey coloured on one side, and the high grey wall of the Turner property on the other, walking and swinging our arms and knowing what was in one another’s minds because there was nothing more complicated in any of our thoughts than the happy tiredness of a good day of being safely in the minds of each other.

WITHDRAWAL . Content Warning.
Forty-eight hours is all it took before the hallucinations began. It started with cats...lots of cats. They haunt over my desk, saunter past by bed and often pay me a judging glance, heads tilted and with glowing green eyes, before leaping soundlessly off into the darkness and vanishing completely.
