7 Incredibly Scary Stories of Real-Life Ghosts
There are few things as chilling as thinking about what lurks in the darkness when we’re all alone. Ghosts are among the most feared entities, simply because they cannot be explained or proven to exist. There have been countless reported sightings of ghosts across the world—so many, in fact, that it leads one to wonder if there's some truth to them. Depending on your beliefs and background, a ghost can be anything from an evil entity trying to mess with you, a spirit from another world stuck on this one for some reason, or even a loved one who isn’t quite ready to say goodbye just yet. No matter what you choose to believe about these spectral presences, there are some chilling stories out there about ghosts that will creep you out so much that you might not ever want to go into another dark room again! Here are some of the scariest real-life ghost stories we could find:
Notes of an ambulance doctor
I work as an ambulance doctor. Among the various reasons I have to refer to the death certificate. Now I will tell you about three cases, three deaths, because of which for the rest of my days I will wake up in a cold sweat and stare into the darkness with horror, until my eyes hurt. Nothing united these three people during their lifetime: a pensioner. A representative of the old intelligentsia. A middle-aged man; probably without a certain kind of occupation, except professional alcoholism, and a student of a technical university. They were united by death under extremely similar circumstances.

I live alone, in a rented apartment, and because of my work; I often have to stay up late at the computer. It was already more than two o'clock in the morning. The window was ajar for ventilation, in general – an ordinary summer night. Then my attention was attracted by some strange noise, some rustling or something like that; I looked around, did not immediately determine where the sound was coming from. And then it started.

I love this village. I've been coming here every summer for almost twenty years. Everything is nearby here: forest, field, and river. The village is relatively large, three kilometers to the nearest village through forests and fields, and about fifteen kilometers to the highway. About three years ago, they began actively buying houses (what to do, people are getting old and dying) for suburban plots.

This story took place during my first year of college. Back then, the bus system in my city was a complete hit or miss in terms of being reliable. Unlike most of my friends, I lived the farthest from downtown in a recently developed suburban neighborhood. Very few busses had routes that ventured out the newly built-up area. The ones that did, the 177 and the 175, only came around in 30-minute intervals for a couple of hours at a time in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Lurking in the shadows and dusty corners of the internet are a myriad of extraordinary and unsung creators who make content for all the right reasons and yet rarely get to see the light of day. Lacking big budgets and rooms of publicist to highlight their accomplishments, they toil on, creating not for profit - but joy . . . . . and salvation.

I didn’t mean to kill her. It just happened so fast. I was just trying to help but I just made it worse. She was being so bossy and I just wanted her to stop. I started to yell at her but she didn’t care. She said, “She was older and I couldn’t tell her what to do.” Madness went over me, so I pushed her. I didn’t mean to push her hard, I just wanted her to stop and to be quiet for once. But a few minutes later I realized that she wasn’t breathing. I started screaming for help but my parents weren’t home. No one would hear me, we were out in the woods playing. What was I supposed to do? I killed her, I killed my sister.

Dad says he was just a kid, maybe older, but definitely too young, and stuck in his bed. Stuck because he’d jumped a little too high and fallen a little too fast and broke his ankle playing basketball, just like his dad had decades before, but he’d broken it in North Carolina instead of in Korea.
