Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
Food for Fools
I’ll be lucky if I’m only nursing a headache by the end of the night. I’d never quite realized how loud a group of people can get before, but now with music blasting in my ears as partygoers screech along, I’m beginning to get an idea. It seems like there’s some sort of correlation between the wild behavior and the noise: the more reckless they act, the louder they scream. At this point, I’m seriously beginning to wonder why I even decided to come here in the first place, especially if I am just going to hide in the corner the entire time.

THIRD LIGHT
“Mason. Cleanup. Aisle ten. Mayonnaise.” Mason worked at the market since he was old enough to get a job, since he was sixteen. Last year, the autumn after he graduated high school, he requested the night shift. He’s worked it for about eighteen months, refusing any requests to work any other shift, and refused to work past five A.M., especially in the summer.

An Excerpt From The Island
* * * * * * * * * * Ernest Chadwick stood rooted to the spot, a pawn to puzzlement. He felt like a tree that has suddenly borne the most unlikely of fruits and contemplates a sly sacrifice to the passing breeze. It seemed that all but his mind was motionless as questions ricocheted back and forth in his head, amorphous pinballs dragging vapor trails in their wake.

The Trip
One day a 15 year old girl named Skylar also known as Sky, was taken on a 5- day trip with her Best Friends Jake, Emma, Kai, Alex, Brooklyn and Jordan. She knew all of them since she was 3 years old. But, Sky did not want to go on the trip because she was trying to watch her Favorite movie that was coming out on Netflix in 2 days!! Too bad she couldn’t watch it the first day it came out… Sky decided to go on a walk that afternoon and ran into a stranger and the stranger gave her a special watch that he claimed to be “Magical” but Skylar thought it was just a joke so she thanked the man and walked away leaving the old man behind in happily… then a few minutes later she bumped into another man but he looked just like the other man that gave her the watch, she ask the man “ Who are you and why do you look like the same man who tried to give me a watch???” the old man replied “ I’m so sorry young lady, that is My twin brother! He is just trying to get rid of some very old stuff. Um… do you have the watch right now?” Skylar answered the man, “yes, why?” the man said “OH GOOD!” In shock, Sky asked the man “What’s wrong?” “Oh, nothing...sorry for shouting like that and shouldn’t you be headed back to wherever you just came from?” Skylar looked at the man confused and asked “what time is it?” “6:15” the man replied, “Oh god...I’ve been out here for 3 hours??” “I guess so” the man said, scratching his back, looking confused. “ Look I’m sorry sir, but I really should be going I’m supposed to be with my friends back at our camper, sorry” “oh, it’s fine! But yeah you really should get back I mean you don’t want to get eaten by the mysterious cannibal” the man replied. “Mysterious cannibal? You mean whoever it is...may eat me?” Skylar said in fear

[Originally published on my old blog, Halloween, 2013.] Natasha shivered in the corner of the shattered room, racing against the sputtering warmth of her dying candle. She held in her numb hands her last connection to the outside world—the Morse Code telegraph that had been serendipitously stowed with the emergency supplies in the one corner of the room not destroyed. Or perhaps the devices had been placed everywhere, in the event of catastrophe, but there was no one left to ask.

Abduction
My name is Stephen and I am in a mental ward because I disappeared off of the face of the earth a few weeks ago, or at least I think a few weeks ago, only to be found naked and cold as I wandered around an old field. Sure, I'm sorry for the shock that it must have caused Mrs. Davis, our postal lady. But it really wasn't my fault.

The Killer
It was early in the morning. Nobody else was awake except for 3 people, A little girl named Emily and her mother, and a guy... Everything seemed fine at first, until... “Mommy mommy wake up” A little girl named Emily called out, while trying to wake up her mother, “Yes, honey?” The mother answered. “Can we please see the new movie today?” Emily asked, excitedly. “Yes, Just let me wake up a little bit more, why don’t you go downstairs and sit at the table so I can get breakfast for you?” her mother said. “Ok,” Emily said, rushing out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Emily’s mother walked out into the hallway and into the bathroom, to wash her face. Emily sat down at the table waiting for her mother to come down. Her mother grabbed the bar of Lavender soap and her red washcloth, and started rubbing them together. Once the washcloth was lathered. She put the bar of soap down, and held the washcloth with both hands and started to scrub her face. Once she was down scrubbing every inch of her face, she put the washcloth down and turned on the water to Lukewarm, and cupped her hands so she could hold water in them, she put her hands under the running water until her hands were halfway filled with water, and splashed the water onto her face. She got all the soap off her face, and then turned off the water. She dried her face and walked out of the bathroom. She walked downstairs, to see her daughter calmly sitting down and waiting at the table for breakfast. “Oh, my!” she said, “I forgot all about breakfast!” she claimed, rushing into the kitchen. She walked towards the pantry door and opened it.

Hello, Sweetheart
10:21PM – Monday, March 16th, 2015 Fairy tales hardly ever come true for quiet girls. At least, that’s what my mother used to tell me right before she’d down her second bottle of red and pass out for the night. I always wondered why she had taken me for a quiet girl, because inside, I was screaming.
