Shadow Dreams. Content Warning.
My heart thumps loud like a war drum signaling for retreat. Not again, I can’t do this again, I think in a panic. Rough fabric scratches my skin as my body's heavy length sinks into familiar cushions. I’m in the living room, but I know I’m not really here. This is a dream. I’ve had it before.

The Apartment
March 31st, 2024 The lights flicker again, threatening to turn my apartment into a silent darkness. A shuddered breath releases from me as I try to not make a sound, clutching my phone, ready to call Diane at any moment. Walking from the short hallway to the kitchen, my wide eyes scan across the fridge, stove, counters, and table. My attention makes the items more like props in an art studio, than furniture in my home. I search for any anomalies. Any ghostly knocks, apparitions, or unembodied voices. Enough moments of time begin to string together with nothing but a calm, even quietness. You’re over-reacting. Stop fucking scaring yourself.

What is a hive's nightmare?
She awoke with a start to a bell. This was not just any garden variety bell. This was the wake-up bell. She got onto her padded paws and stretched out any kinks from her sleep, then sauntered over to the massive glass barrier that showed her the world outside. The source of the bell, the bell of a bike from a boy throwing the morning papers, was a good indication to her to get the day started. At least it was for her servant.

Jack and the Rabid Dog
Jack’s cinema vérité point of view zooms down long concrete hallways with vaulted ceilings. He races down a corridor, approaching a closed vault door guarded on either side by an armed soldier. As Jack passses between them, the older of the two turns and looks directly at him, sending shivers of terror through whatever form this is, but he passes, without resistance, through the door without any sort of alarm being sounded.
