Epilogue

"Made it back." Jack exclaimed while getting off the train.

"I love you." She said.

"It took you long enough." Grandma glared as he was getting in the car.

The three of them made a funny group in Chicago. Jack and Stephanie had been together for years. One kid together, but now split and far apart. Jack had comeback to finish signing over the titles to Stephanie. They had made it back to Grandma's Laura's house. Free room and board, plus food why not Jack thought.

"Bur, it's cold." he said. " Way different from the desert."

"It's north." Lauren said.

"Time to eat, hunny."steph looked.

Jack heard whispers around as he made his way in. Nothing he could make out.

" You gotta be careful with the homeless." Jack told Stephanie after eating as he got ready for bed.

"No, you don't." she replied. "They are none."

"Just saying." he laughed.

"It's safe." Stephanie answered. "We are alone go to sleep."

"Tomorrow morning I'll check the woods around us."he yawned. "Okay."

"Okay, good night." said Stephanie.

Jack snored.

The morning was bright, but cold, different from the southland. Southern air is much warmer, where northern winds cut through you. Jack started making breakfast thinking about his past travel.

"I found you a job." Stephanie said coming down the stairs.

"I already got one." he cried.

"An easy one with me." she smiled. "That pays more."

"No." he laughed. "Quality tester is where I belong."

She laughed again grabbing on to him "I need you."

"Okay." Jack said.

On his way to work in the new warehouse. Jack noticed the town staring at him. He was use to metropolitan towns but not micro. It was very different. Gary was an nice ,but older human resources man and good at what he did. The job was easy same as any warehouse job. It was fun working with his wife or at least ex-wife. They looked at him funny.

"Hey, I'm Jack" he said.

The crowd of co-worker's looking at him. All seeming friendly. He was placed with Elizabeth on foaming.

"So, did you know him?" Elizabeth asked. "Did you know Tyler?"

"Tyler?" Jack said stunned.

"Stephanie's exe!" she replied "It's, so sad what happened."

"What happened?" Jack asked.

"It's so hard to talk about?" she replied.

"Okay." Jack said.

Work with smooth and easy as the rest of the night settled. Stephanie seemed off, but who isn't. Jack started shoveling the snow.

"Hey Steph are you feeling okay?" Jack said concerned.

"Yes, why?" She replied.

"Cause of Tyler, of what happened?" Jack answered.

"I'm still sad every night since his suicide." She looked in grief.

"I'm here always!" Jack stared.

Lauren just got done cleaning the kitchen. Now she was working on the computer.

"You get up early!" She mouthed.

"Sorry bad habit, but I love it , plus you gotta exercise now a days." Jack laughed. "So it helps."

"Well, stop it." She grinned.

" I'll try, but you know I gotta, especially with how old I'm getting." Jack laughed." Been trying to get Stephanie out walking she wanted to when I was down south."

"A lot changed especially now that she is with child." Lauren said.

"Really, she don't even look." Jack replied.

"Oh yeah dear right before you got back up here." Laureen said.

"She never mentioned she been eating okay." Jack said.

"Oh yeah, everyday." Lauren replied.

"Thanks for telling me." Jack said as he headed out for a walk.

" Oh yeah dearie, hurry back and be safe out there." Lauren said as he left.

"You, too." Jack waved.
