The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. There were a group of friends camping in the area. One girl was near the cabin gathering sticks and branches to start a fire. Startled by the lit candle, she tripped and fell hard on her hands and knees. When she stood and brushed her dirty hands off she cautiously turned to see what she had fallen over. Dead, lifeless eyes of a boy around her age with his mouth gaping open stared back at her. She screamed and took off running back to her camp. Not knowing how far she'd wandered, she ran and ran. Hollering her friends names, she strained her ears to hear for them talking. The only sound that reached back to her was a shrill wind. Panicking, she ran faster. Sweat started trickling down her back and her breathing was becoming ragged. She slowed to try and catch some air when it suddenly started pouring rain on her.

With her unruly hair swirling around her face from the wind and now soaking wet she struggled to see where she was going. There was a light ahead so trudged through the weeds and rain towards it. As she came closer she realized, she was once again in front of the abandoned cabin. She was going in circles and had no idea how to escape. Soaked to the bone and trembling from the cold, she straightened her shoulders and walked up to the cabin. The front steps creaked dangerously, and as soon as she grasped the door handle the wind and rain stopped completely.

She looked around in fear and awe still tightly gripping the handle. The door was thrown open violently ripping her hand off and she jumped back. Startled and exhausted she decided to investigate since she'd already come this far. Tentatively stepping through the door she could see an old worn out staircase, ratty furniture scattered about, candles and trash lining the floors and moth eaten curtains. Taking a few more steps into the entry way she noticed the room to the right where the candle was lit in the window. Deciding to get the candle so she could see she headed towards it. Before she could grab the candle a huge gust blew through the room and every candle lit up in a blaze. Her skin prickled as if there were a dark presence lingering and she bolted back to the front door. Just as she rounded the corner she watched in horror as the door slammed shut.

Rushing forward she used all her might to yank but it wouldn't budge. She felt the panic rising in her as the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. Looking around franticly for something to break the door down with all she found was old pieces of wood from the stairs. She picked the biggest one she could find and swung and bashed the wood on the door to no avail.

Tears pricking her eyes, she carefully walked further in the house. Every room she passed would light up with candles. Making it to the kitchen she took in the dirty cracked counter tops and rusted sink. A small table with one chair was tucked in a corner. There she saw a back door but again, the door was shut tight no matter how hard she pulled.

Continuing her trek through the cabin, she ended up in a small living room. There was a fireplace on one side that exploded in fire and she was forced to cover her face from the heat. It simmered slightly and she moved her arm. Even with the room as warm as it was from the fire, when she breathed out she could see a puff of air. With wide eyes she scoured the room. There were tons of windows. Reaching for the nearest chair to smash through a window a cold clawed hand wrapped around her throat. Gasping for air she tore at the hand at her neck desperately. She was able to tear through the translucent skin and a green slime poured out of the scratches. She was vaulted through the air, painfully slamming into the wall breaking her shoulder in the process.

With a strangled cry she tried to stand up but was stricken with fear when she glanced up. Floating before her was a creature that looked part human, part wolf, and part bat. The face was human with long curly hair splayed behind it and crimson eyes, hands and feet were clawed and hairy like a wolf, and grotesque black wings protruded from its back. It's skin was see through and the wings were torn almost to shreds yet somehow still holding the creature in the air. She tried standing again as the monstrosity screeched and careened towards her bouncing her head off of a window. Stars were spotting her vision as she again tried to get up. Frustrated, shivering with terror, and injured, her hope begin to dwindle.

Her vision cleared finally. As she was eyeing the room looking for the creature, her friends came bursting through the entryway screaming her name. She cried out in relief as she saw them, trying to stand to get to them. Hysterically crying she rose and rushed towards her friends just as the creature appeared behind them and tore into one of their necks greedily eating the bite it had ripped out. She was screaming as her first friend collapsed the rest turning to see the commotion. Her limbs felt like lead as she stared helplessly watching all of her friends get mangled by this unruly beast, before it's blood red eyes locked on to her. Before she could even blink she felt the worst pain she'd ever know, and then she was a pile of numbness dumped on the floor. She could feel her life slowly seeping out of her as she laid on the crumbling wood floor, of what was supposed to be, an abandoned cabin.
