What have I done?
It seemed so innocuous the time. He stepped into the thrift store on a whim. He wasn’t really shopping, nor did he have funds for any kind of significant purchase. He was just hoping to break the drudgery of walking the city sidewalks without a destination.

Susie Schadenfreude
It is the first day of class at Yankton Middle School, and I am hopelessly lost. I was late to school this morning because I’d been running around looking for my shoes in boxes the movers had left. I glance again at the schedule in my hand, and I see that first period English is scheduled in Room 15. I then check each door’s number as I wander down the hallway to ensure it matches with my schedule.

Dead Pages
Is it such a bad thing? Dying, I mean. Simple question. Complicated answer. No one answer is true or right, false or wrong. It all depends on perspective, and there are countless different viewpoints. It'd be impossible to discuss them all, or to even make sense of most of them.

Maria Arkady
The thin cord that held sixty-seven warm pearls the size of peas around her neck suddenly felt suffocating. She reached up and began pressing each smooth ball between her thumb and pointer finger, moving them through her fingers counting them as she had so many times for comfort. The comfort had expired and all that remained was the choking feeling of memories. When her fingers reached the small silver clasp she yanked hard. The string snapped and pearls popped around her feet, bouncing across the marble floor of her Manhattan apartment. As the clattering pearls found crevices in which to settle, one of the tiny white balls rolled along the mahogany baseboard. She watched through tear filled eyes as the last dancing bead moved towards a brass heating vent and disappeared with a silent small thud into the black spaces between the brass bars.

I never really knew her.
BBOOOOOMMMMMM!!!! I shot up in bed drenched in sweat from a nightmare I couldn't recall, my heart was still beating fast and I couldn't shake the sense of terror I felt. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and looked at my peacefully sleeping wife laying next to me. The moonlight flooded through our bedroom window and shined directly on her as if nothing else in the room matter. Our marriage was perfect and she was the pillar of my world. I turned to hug her for comfort and hopefully get back to sleep being careful to adjust myself as to not wake her. I failed because at that moment she rose up and turned to face me.
