_-Double-Vision-_
According to my watch it’s 1:AM Sunday morning. No, this can’t be right. Where was I between the hours of 9pm and now? I feel like I’m interrogating myself because I just don’t know where I’ve been. So here I sit, floating about the ocean like a giant piece of driftwood on an aimless journey…Wondering, pondering, deducing.

Reed's Literary Horror Review 'At The Gates of Chaos' (2021) Edited by Scott Dyson.
I think the first thing that was really fetching about this anthology wasn't just the solid collection of stories, but also the fantastic collection of artwork proceeding each story. Kinda gives it the feel of a Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark, except for adults. The artwork was fascinating and I appreciate the added effort.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Stir of Echoes' (1999)
In my review of White Noise (2005), I asked the question, "why watch that when you can watch this instead?" They were very similar in style and even plot, but White Noise was pretty lame. I mean, it was okay, but not really worth the watch. This one is so much better AND it has Kevin Bacon in it.

Time and Tide Do Not Wait
Jon Stevens hadn’t seen a living person in weeks, and he preferred it that way since just about every one of those so-called human beings had tried to kill him for either his meager belongings or for food. Not that he often carried food because it was hard to come by even when he was looking for it – but rather these two-footed beasts considered him to be a convenient source of nourishment. Small animals had become nearly non-existent, at least where people were trying to survive. Big game like deer and bear had moved deeper into wooded areas that were much harder for the hungry few to navigate. Human beings were now food for each other. No one in Jon’s neighborhood saw this coming – the power outage eleven months ago that everyone thought would last a few hours and turned out to be permanent. Now people were eating each other. “How the hell does this happen?” Jon mused to himself walking carefully among the trees along what used to be Interstate 79 North.

Nummy Calvin
You’ve seen me around town, you just pretend not to. I’m the guy crawling out of the dumpster behind downtown restaurants to ask for a handout. The guy who smells like he pissed himself and always seems to have snot running out of his nose. I hear your kids when they insult me, the name they call me … Nummy Calvin. I don’t know why they call me that, it’s not even my name. But I don’t care, I have more important things on my mind than fighting with a bunch of punks. I have to get my revenge on the bitch who did this to me.

The Drownding Dream
The boy took in the salty air as he leaned on the edges of the ship. The sails caught the wind high above him, making the sound of faint clinking. As he hummed under his breath, a song that was heard by the sea many times. He heard the crew yelling and rushing around but paid no attention to it; he was the captain's son. As he let the warm sunlight hit his golden skin and the salty air rustle his dark brown coils. He let his hands rest on the old wood of the ship’s side, excitement getting to him as if they were going somewhere; they weren't; they were just out for a joy boat ride on the willing sea that took them places far and near. Today though the sea only took them a few yards out.

Survival
"SMASH," I instantly jolt awake from a night of deep sleep to the sound of glass dishes smashing against the wall. "SLAM," goes the bedroom door as mother flings it open as hard as she can. "What have I told you about stacking the dishes like that!" as she grabs me by the arm so tight it damn near leaves a bruise while dragging me to the kitchen. "This is fucking unacceptable." She screams in my face as spit flies out her mouth. I quickly run and get the broom to sweep up her mess, afraid of knowing what would happen next. "SMACK," her hand hits my back so hard it left and big red mark. I try my hardest to please her so that maybe she would be happy one day and I wouldn't get beat, but it is never enough.

Salted
So loud were the sputtering pops of the driftwood aflame, the waves crashing against the craggy shore, and his own whooping hollering cheer, that at first Declan didn’t hear her. Then, in a perfect pause between the fire, the waves, and his jubilant exclamation, came the voice again. It might have been an angel’s voice, the way Declan whipped around, breathless, desperate for the first sign of island life he had heard in weeks. She might have been an angel too. Declan ran a trembling hand through his sweaty hair when the beauty, half submerged in the sea, asked a third and slightly exacerbated time:
