All the Best Parts of My Personal Favorite Holiday

Ahh Halloween, the one holiday where we go against what our parents teach us and take candy from strangers in the middle of the night. But most importantly, you get to dress up in silly costumes, and no one can judge you. I personally had quite the fun costumes. I was Snow White, homemade Super Why made with green swim goggles, and a witch three years in a row. Then I was a vampire, Katniss Everdeen, and some biker chick from a Disney movie. I also wore an all black angel outfit and went as a fallen angel. Then I was a zombie bride and finally, last year and this year I’m going as a unicorn. It’s the best costume because I literally get to wear a onesie all night. So as you can see, I had quite the collection of Halloween costumes.

Although the costume is important and fun, trick-or-treating is also a huge part of Halloween. Going around your neighborhood in the dark, knocking on strangers doors and just being given free candy. All because you’re wearing some falling apart, overpriced outfit. That’s basically what I wear to school everyday. But the best part of trick-or-treating is when you find the houses that just set a bowl with a piece of paper taped to it saying “Please Take 1,” but everyone knows you don’t take only one, you take the whole bowl. And then you got the houses with the king sized bars and you try and find every way to go there multiple times without them noticing you’ve already been there. Then, when you finally get home, you dump out your candy and argue over what’s considered a “fair” trade.

One thing that I’ve always had problems with on Halloween, is peanut candy. I have a deadly peanut allergy. So, I always have to trade my peanut candy. Which just means I get tons of skittles and mini Hershey’s in trade of my snickers and butterfingers. So it’s not so bad.

Another great part of Halloween is pumpkin carving. I don’t do it every year, but it’s still super fun. One year, I was finally able to carve the pumpkin all on my own. Well, mostly on my own. And when we set it outside, it was gone. Some jerk stole my pumpkin. So now, I don’t like to leave pumpkins outside overnight.

So in conclusion, Halloween is the best. I may not trick-or-treat anymore, but I can still hand out candy, scare my easily frightened dad, and dress up super fun. Plus I can eat tons of candy no matter what I’m doing on Halloween. I can’t wait for the sugar high and scary ride that is Halloween night!
