Hachishakusama

The Eight-Foot Tall Woman

By SlothfulKingPublished about a year ago 2 min read

In the quiet town of Hitomi, nestled deep within the mountains of Japan, a chilling legend loomed. Whispers passed from generation to generation, speaking of a mysterious entity known as Hachishakusama—the Eight-Foot Tall Woman. Fear gripped the hearts of the townsfolk whenever her name was uttered, for they knew the horrors that she brought.

It was said that Hachishakusama was a specter of unparalleled beauty, with flowing black hair and hauntingly pale skin. Towering above ordinary mortals, her presence alone instilled a sense of dread. Legend had it that she would appear in the twilight hours, her unnaturally long limbs gliding silently through the darkness.

Children were particularly warned to fear her, as Hachishakusama had an insidious appetite for their souls. She would emerge from the shadows, her voice sweet and gentle, luring the unsuspecting young ones with promises of gifts and treats. But those who fell into her trap would suffer a horrifying fate.

One moonlit night, a young girl named Emiko found herself wandering the streets alone. The distant echoes of cicadas filled the air, as if the insects themselves warned of impending danger. Emiko's heart raced as she caught a glimpse of a figure in the distance—an ethereal silhouette, tall and imposing.

Hachishakusama stepped closer, her form defying all reason. Her eyes gleamed with an otherworldly light, fixated on Emiko. Paralyzed by fear, the young girl trembled as the Eight-Foot Tall Woman extended her impossibly long arms, reaching out to claim her prey.

But in a miraculous twist of fate, an elderly woman named Yumi, known for her knowledge of ancient folklore, appeared on the scene. With a voice filled with ancient power, Yumi recited incantations known to ward off evil spirits. The air crackled with energy as the words flowed from her lips, creating a barrier between Emiko and Hachishakusama.

Enraged by Yumi's interference, the Eight-Foot Tall Woman let out an ear-piercing shriek that reverberated through the night. As quickly as she had come, she vanished into the darkness, leaving behind only a lingering sense of malevolence.

Emiko, still trembling, clung to Yumi's side. The old woman's eyes were filled with both compassion and warning. She explained that Hachishakusama was an ancient spirit, an embodiment of darkness that preyed upon the innocence of children. Yumi revealed that she had encountered the spirit years ago and had narrowly escaped her clutches, vowing to protect the children of Hitomi from her grasp.

From that day forward, Yumi dedicated herself to safeguarding the town's youth. She taught them incantations and rituals, empowering them with the knowledge to fend off Hachishakusama's advances. The legend of the Eight-Foot Tall Woman became a cautionary tale, a reminder to remain vigilant and never succumb to her deceptive charms.

Years passed, and as the generations changed, so did the stories of Hachishakusama. Some believed she was nothing more than a fable, while others claimed to have encountered her in the depths of their nightmares. But the people of Hitomi never forgot the lessons taught by Yumi—the importance of protecting the vulnerable and staying united against the forces of darkness.

To this day, the legend of Hachishakusama continues to echo through the mountains of Hitomi, a reminder that evil can manifest in the most unexpected forms. And should you find yourself in the twilight hours, as the cicadas sing their haunting melody, remember to tread carefully, for the Eight-Foot Tall Woman may be lurking in the shadows, waiting to claim her next victim.
