She was only 5 years old. A young brilliant minded child. So unique eyes open wider than the skies could reach. She had short brown hair with wispy cross bangs trimmed delicately, just above her eyes. She was getting ready for her first day of kindergarten, in a brand-new house, about to leave for the day. Along with a new Step dad, and step brother and sister. She skipped her way to their first day of the new school year which just so happened to be located just a walk around the corner. Her brother and sister were older and in much higher grades than her so she did not see them much during school hours. When they got home, well, life was a different story. Here is too the beginning of a bone chilling short story that you will never forget.

Do you ever hear stories about children having special or unique Senses, some that for adults go unseen? Especially as you grow older and your mind matures some are not as open to what is beyond. So, they do not see. Sometimes negative energy can be a reactor for the unknown, let's just say this child’s new stepdad was not exactly comforting. He would get drunk, and torment the youngest child in the house.... which was this girl. She wasn’t “his” blood so he treated her as if she were Cinderella. A 5-year-old, but yep. The Step child. He would drive to the gas station drunk off his behind three of the youngsters fearing for their lives in the backseat every time.

One night as the little girl's mom has finally gotten home from work. (Not even realizing how her new husband was treating her kid earlier that day) The mom tucked her little girl in bed and said goodnight. The two sisters shared a room, classic. As they fall asleep in their red bunkbed. The little girl sees her step sister and her eyes start to drift off. Shes lies awake uncomfortable in the dark by herself. She always had her mom leave the hall light on, with the door cracked just enough. This night, she felt something she had never felt before. At five years old. She felt something in the room with her. The dark closed in more and more as she felt a presence creep into the corner of her bedroom. But wait, it was not a someone but a something. A shadow, that was staring straight at her as she laid in bed.... the girl freezes in fear and calls for her sister. Whom seems to think this little girl has lost her mind. She calls her mom.... her mom comes in, the girl in tears. Not even aware of what “ghosts” were especially that young... she was extremely traumatized.

Terrified, she saw and felt this figure from there on out for weeks. Each time it grew closer and closer to her bed. The negativity from the environment and her step fathers’ behaviors were rubbing on the house and or whatever it was creeping in...as his drinking grew more violent and his actions more abusive this thing remained more dominant. The young girl would also hear people trying to talk to her while simply just picking movies out with the family in the house. It became a new normal. To sense or see the unknown for her. This was just the beginning.

It was not until the drinking forced the family out of the house that the shadows and what not stopped. The Stepfather passed away from liver failure due to his over drinking. While his kids went back with their mom. Then the young girl with hers. The mom and girl moved out of the town and started a new with the daughters Grandma. Things still pop up now and then, but this just goes to show....be careful what you surround yourself. Something worse could always find you. Oh, by the way their house was located on Elm Street, deep in the Valley, in California.

I hope you enjoyed this little short of where my paranormal experiences began at a young age. Yes, you guessed it! That little girl in the story is me. Glad I could share with you the beginning of where my nightmares began. Right there on Elm Street.

If you have ever seen the Shining and or feel maybe you have that extra “sense.” Just remember, it takes a special person to “Shine.” It is a gift.

Stay tuned for more, way more chilling stories to come.
