The movie going public loves carnage, don't even try to argue it, it's a fact at this point. Buckets of blood and severed limbs are mandatory for certain sects of movie lovers. ABC news studied it, and determined that nothing grabs our attention like violence.

Whether it's zombies, torture, or brutalized teens at a secluded cabin, it's safe to say America has an appetite for it. There is no shortage of violent movies, and more and more horror films and TV shows seem to be taking over. Just look at the success of the reboot of Stephen King'sIt, it recently had the highest grossing opening weekend of any horror film ever.

With so many to choose from, what are the bloodiest gore movies of all time? There is a lot of blood to sift through, but luckily I've already done that all for you — check one of these out next time you get a chance.

House of 1000 Corpses is gore master Rob Zombie's directorial debut — after a highly successful music career. It follows the strange and murderous Firefly family, in a Texas Chainsaw inspired blood romp. A group of stranded young couples are sold to the legend of Dr. Satan, a disturbed doctor who butchered his patients. They end up running into the Firefly family on America's backroads, and bloody scenes soon follow.

The film stars The Office's Rain Wilson as one of the stranded, and features Sid Haig as a killer clown. Murder, cannibalism, and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1,000 horrors that await the audience in one of the bloodiest gore movies.

Hostel shocked mainstream audiences when it was released in 2005, as it had some of the most brutal torture scenes anybody had ever seen. In the film, three backpackers head to a Slovak city that promises to meet their hedonistic expectations, but they have no idea of the hell that awaits them.

From the demented mind of Eli Roth, Hostel would go on to produce to sequels, either of which could be considered some of the bloodiest gore movies of all time. Be warned, this movie is hard to watch.

Cabin Fever is another Eli Roth entry on our list of bloodiest gore movies. A group of five college graduates rent a cabin in the woods and begin to fall victim to a horrifying flesh-eating virus, which attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals. The strange disease literally causes them to spew blood and eats their insides.

This movie has some of the bloodiest scenes in recent years, and the violence really sticks with you a while. It all starts when they drink the tap water, and just unravels into a gore fest from there.

This iconic Stephen King adaptation is a movie everybody should be familiar with. If you're not, Carrie is a girl with telekinetic powers who exacts revenge on her cruel schoolmates after endless bullying and ridicule. A final prank at the senior prom finally sends her over the edge. It is one of the bloodiest scenes in film history.

It literally rains blood — an easy pick for the bloodiest gore movies. It stars Sissy Spacek in a career defining role, and despite all the blood, Carrie was nominated for two Oscars.

Wrong Turn was universally panned upon its release, but has since become a gore-filled cult classic, spawning several sequels. Six people find themselves trapped in the woods of West Virginia, hunted down by cannibalistic mountain men who have been grossly disfigured through generations of inbreeding.

It starts with a simple "wrong turn" when a young man is trying to get to a job interview but has to take a shortcut. There, he runs into the five others, and one of the bloodiest gore movies kicks into gear.

This is definitely a remake worth seeing, and one of the bloodiest gore movies of all time. Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons who are living in the nearby woods. The Book begins to possess them one by one, until only one is left in a brutal fight for survival.

The original Evil Dead is clearly the better film, so you should probably check that out before picking up the remake. However, the remake is far bloodier, and that's what earns it a spot.

Dawn of the Dead is a remake of the classic zombie gore fest. A nurse, a policeman, a young married couple, a salesman, and other survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, flesh-eating zombies, take refuge in a huge Midwestern shopping mall.

When supplies begin running low and other trapped survivors need help, the group comes to the realization that they cannot stay put forever at the shopping mall, and devise a plan to escape. The zombies run in this one and the results are terrifying — easily one of the bloodiest gore movies.

A caving expedition goes horribly wrong, as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators. That is the premise of The Descent, an incredibly bloody and brutal movie.

Sarah is the protagonist in the film, and she returns to the cave a year after, still searching for her missing friends. Even with a lack of supplies, she manages to struggle and survive, coming face to face with the strange blood thirsty creatures.

A mad scientist kidnaps and mutilates a trio of tourists in order to reassemble them into a human centipede... created by stitching them ass to mouth. One of the bloodiest gore movies of all time was followed by two sequels — known as The Complete Sequence. The surgeon plans to be the first person to connect people by their gastric systems. By doing so, he plans to bring to life his insane fantasy — the human centipede.

This is one of the more difficult films to watch in recent memory, and some of the scenes are particularly brutal. The Human Centipede is for serious gore fans only.

For one of the bloodiest gore movies, the remake of Wes Craven's classic is right up there with the original, and it's certainly more bloody. While celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, a couple are caravanning through the desert with their three children, son in law, and their granddaughter. It doesn't take long for them to run into these sadistic cannibals.

The Hills Have Eyes features some truly brutal scenes, and it's not for the faint of heart. One thing many of these movies make clear is never take short cuts, and never stop at sketchy gas stations.
