The top 5 periods of time i would like to visit
a look at 5 periods in time i'd like to visit
Over the past couple of years, I have wondered to myself what life would be llike during various time periods in human existence, some ouch so that I’ve done role plays on ChatGPT where I’ve basically put a character into a random part in human history and I’d live in that time period. I mean the best time period for me is probably now in modern time, with my current disabilities I’d be completely fucked so hard I wouldn’t know what the fuck happened. But I thought it would be fun to explore my favorite time periods and for the sake of argument let’s say I’m completely fine. That way the only thing I can imagine doing isn’t dying the very first day. Which probably is still what would happen with some of these entries anyways. Here is my list of my top 5 periods of time that I would like to visit and why. If you have any period in time that you can think of that you’d like to visit let me know in the comment section.
5. On the number 5 spot I picked the late 1800s roughly 1870 – 1899. This age marks the final frontier of American expansion includes the western expansion into previously untamed land like New Mexico and Arizona. It was also a time where the age of the outlaw was at its peak, and was near the end of the Victorian Era, Now that we got the boring facts out of the way, I mostly picked this place because if I had a time machine I’d finally get to the bottom of what actually happened and what is just romatisised nonsense created by a bunch of dumb fucks who have no idea how outlaws actually operated, or maybe they do understand that fact that there’s no goddamn way that two people are going to walk into the middle of town with their revolvers long after dueling had become illegal pretty much everywhere. Yes, for those of you who don’t know, by this time, dueling was illegal pretty much in every state and had been for quite some time in most places. I guess people finally figured out “So maybe shooting someone over an insult isn’t the kind of thing we want to encourage, we’re trying to be civilized and this just makes us like cavemen who apparently acquired a metal death device.”
4. On number 4 I picked the Jamestown settlement era. Mostly because I just want to tell the Native Americans “Hey maybe don’t be as nice to the smelly individuals who just got off the boat.” And just see how that changes things. Also, I’d like to know how the fuck they converted a goddamn plant into currency. Like who the fuck thought of the whole system where banknotes apparently represented a bag of tobacco or some shit, or however the fuck that was supposed to work, I’d also love to see this warehouse. I can just imagine someone going through the warehouse and be like “Well the Andersons seem quite wealthy right now.” And then they just roll up the Tabacco and start smoking the money. I would also like to rub in their face that the starving times were brought on by themselves. Of course I’d wouldn’t be a complete asshole during this time, and I’d probably get my ass hanged eventually but I would also try and help John Smith when that asshole Archer tried to get John hanged because he was a hot-headed asshole who didn’t like the fact that people likely liked and respected John more than him. With good reason too, Archer was part of the broader problem when it came to dealing with the poor discipline problem. He apparently was also hell bent on starting a war with the Native Americans for some reason.
3. On my number 3 spot I picked the revolutionary war era. I know the United States history has dominated the list so far but I promise the last two have nothing to do with the United States. I just live here so what can you expect, though I did briefly think about putting Nazi Germany down as an edgy sort of joke, but then I thought to myself, “This isn’t really funny, it’s just 14-year-old shock humor” Abd I thought the joke would just be lazy. To be clear, this entry is serous and I genuinely would like to explore this period of time, mostly because I’d like to meet George Washgton and watch him lose his mind at what American politics eventually became. I don’t imagine him taking it particularly well. It might have been enough to get him to outright ban political parties. That’s what should have happened anyway in the first place. It should have been illegal for these political parties to basically monopolize the elections and make so now only the people who want to constrain themselves to one or the other way of thinking. That’s a whole other rant for another day, but I will just say for now that if we’re going to reduce complex social, economic and geopolitical issues to just two different acceptable takes, then maybe we kind of deserve to have out medophorical ass kicking we might have coming to us.
2. Ancient Greece. Out of all the ancient civilizations that I found interesting, I decided to settle on Greece. Largely what I would consider the birthplace of what would become modern democracy, I would love to see how that got started. I’d probably like Athens better than Sparta because of the whole leaving babies out to die thing. I feel that I prefer a place that prefers trade over starting a war. Also watching the city states team up to kick the shit out of the Persians would be pretty badass. I’d also enjoy a good old debate with yours truly Socrates. He is the type of guy who would genially be interesting to talk to because we don’t actually have very much records coming from him directly, I’d like to know how he was really like.
1. Prehistory.: prehistoric times is my number 1 for a number of reasons. There are the obvious reasons like the fact I’d like to know what life was really like before humans began writing, and I’d like not having to really purely on archeology. Bones tend to be a very poor indication on how people actually behaved. Unless you come across a human with a busted skull. ‘Apparently some things among humans don’t change. The other thing I want to know is whether or not writing did in fact exist before the earliest recorded date and that if that writing was just lost. I’d also want to know what the night sky looked like. I imagine it looked amazing. There was virtually no light pollution so you could probably see a full sky night. That would really make for an interesting experience. Also, it is said that the night sky probably looked a lot different back far enough, I’d like to see the different stars in the sky. To me early man has the most mysteries of any time periods so that’s why it gets my number one spot.

3. there you have it the 5 time periods in time I’d like to visit. I think the funniest part of making this list is understanding that pretty much any of these time periods are unlivable to the average person living in the 21st century. The average gen Zer would probably nope the fuck out pf all of these right after realizing “Holy fuck there’s no internet.” And you know what? I’d be right with them. Those times would be fine to visit, but I’d have no interest disability or not to live in them presently. So, let me know, what time period would you like to visit?
