the Haymarket Affair :The Rise Of The Union.
History to Mystery by Andrea Chronicles

Chicago used to be so much different than the bustling cars and transit trains zooming by. The millions of people sitting in there cars on the expressway heading to and from work during rush hour. Back in the early to late 1800s once Chicago began a hub for trade it was much more busier and very stinky. During those days the civil war was over and the industrial revolution began to make life for busy Chicagoans easier. A larger group of people fleeing from there European nations began to flood the streets of Chicago more and more. Once the first factories came to town there was a need of increasing work to be done. One of these places work was getting done was the Chicago Stockyard. Also known as the smelliest place in the Chicagoland area.
Once the Stockyard began to boom one man in particular decided to make a profit off of the backs of those hardworking immigrants and his name was Phillip Amour and he had very unrealistic working hours alongside pay and housing for those people called back of the yards which caused so many people to die due to disease and no clean water. At his meat packing company he slaughtered and killed over 8 million cows and pigs and what ever was left over from the animals was used in other of his products. Of the machines used many people lost limbs and or died due to possible miscommunications from workers speaking so many different languages.
Due to so many people having voices not being heard and the cries not being heard due to bad work conditions radicals as they were called decide to speak for the people. They began to go on strike and workers refused to go to work. One day of May 3rd 1886 at the McCormick reaper plant shots were fired. More than 500 shots were fired at the workmen who just wanted 8 hour shifts instead of the usual 109 hours and this day would spark a more dramatic change and a horrible fate to those who were killed and put in prison even though they were completely innocent.A bomb thrown in a crowed of people on May 4th 1886 in Haymarket square .The person who threw the bomb was never caught but once the bomb was thrown the officers fired into the crowed killing and injuring bystanders alongside a few officers who were also killed. Innocent people would be tried and hanged for there nonexcited influence in the riot.
Those men were August Spies who was a American upholsterer, radical labor activist, and newspaper editor. Albert Parson was a paradox: a Confederate soldier who became a Radical Republican after the Civil War and married a former slave. George Engel a labor union activist who was also executed. Adolph Fischer was an anarchist and union activist. Louis Ling was a anarchist .Michael Schwab a German American labor organizer. Oscar Neebe also a labor activist who received 15 years in prison. Samuel Gompers was the one who wrote to congress to kill those involved .After his death his wife would later be his voice of reason Lucy Parson.
Lucy Parson born in America and was a slave for most of her life who died in a very mysterious way. She was a business women and anarchist who fought for worker rights and gained the reputation of being more dangerous than a thousand riots. Due to her fighting and not backing down to white America at the time. Before you complain about working a 40 hour workweek remember the people who died and were falsely executed so that you can have 8hours of work and 8 hours of rest.
