YuGiOh! Sevens Episode 4

Gakuto! Student Council President

The first half of the show features Gakuto and his duties as a class president. The episode starts out with Yuga getting Gakuto to record a promotional video of him and Rook dueling in order to post on their YouTube channel. I find this very funny and realistic because in today's society we have social media like YouTube where people like kids make videos to get their stuff out there.

The group even tried to get Romin to sing which was hilarious to watch because we find Romin is just a guitar player and not a singer. They even tried to get the Gakuto to sing for them and we come to find that singing is forbidden on school grounds unless you are singing the anthem of Goha (The ending song of the show). They enjoyed the idea that Gakuto ended up singing the anthem after the group forgetting how it goes. The reaction to Gakuto's singing was fun to watch.

After making the video and posting it, we see the group looking at it and Romin saying it will never get any likes, and then right after seeing the likes go up like crazy was very reminiscent to reality. It's amusing how Yuga mentions he altered Kaizo (the drone) to rapidly press like on the video to enhance their presence. It goes to show how innocent they are when it comes to promoting Rush duels. It's important to remember that last episode all of the Rush Duel videos that were made and posted were deleted because of goha corp.

Gakuto is always around his secretary and vice president. They always assist in Gakuto and presidential duties. Gakuto mentions that his Ace monster, "Fiendish Commander, Yameruler" is his lucky charm and before we get into the duel between Gakuto and Yuga, Gakuto continues to have rush duels banned on school grounds which leads to Rook making him a deal.

If Gakuto wins the duel then Yuga and Rook cant rush duel no more (which we know won't stop the main character from Rush Dueling because it is his invention) but if Yuga wins then Gakuto will have to allow rush duels to happen on school grounds. Rook adds that he has to step down as class president and even though us the audience sees this coming. Rook says it as if its a small thing that's not that big of a deal but as we've seen throughout the episode, being a class president is a lot of work and time-draining.

Rook wanted to be the next class president so he can promote his own agenda and we pan to see the gang leave while Rook is talking as if its a child's dream that is not so realistic and it gives off that comedic factor which is appreciated. Right before the duel, Gakuto is called for class president responsibilities which put the duel on hold. After spending the whole day being a class president we see that Gakuto has under 10 min before heading home and he rushes to see the gang in order to uphold his last request.

The duel between Gakuto and Yuga was still introductory but also quite entertaining because we have the vice president and secretary helping Gakuto in moving the cards as if Gakuto dueling is not him disobeying the rules. What's interesting is while Gakuto and the vice president (the girl) was discussing what to do, Yuga laughs and mentions how much fun he is having just dueling Gakuto.

Yuga noticing how much it takes out of Gakuto from being a class president and how so much of his life has been governed by that title. Yuga makes a point that he wanted to duel Gakuto and not the class president because he wants him to enjoy himself and not be so reliant on his title. Yuga continues to give vibes of Yuya (ARC-V) and Yuma (ZEXAL) because he is looking out for his opponent and always trying to have a good time and give them the opportunity to enjoy themselves while not being so reliant to stresses.

After receiving the pep talk from Yuga, Gakuto decides to use the cards himself without the use of the vice president and the secretary. After Yuga (going first) summons 2 and passes, Gakuto summons his ace monster, "Fiendish Commander Yameruler". He makes a pose as if he's chanting and his puns don't land which Romin points out. Yameruler has an ability that allows himself to change his battle position in order to prevent tribute summoning level 7 and higher monsters. This blocks Yuga from summoning his ace monster, "Sevens Road Magician".

Gakuto uses the legacy card, "Shield & Sword" in order to switch attack and defense so he can get the upper hand against yuga and since his ace monster has an even 2500, he is unhinged. After almost beating Yuga, he sets and passes. Yuga as per rush duel rules draws until he has 5 cards and brings out a new monster that is nostalgic to the original Dark Magician Girl. Yuga summons the new "Sevens Road Witch".

Gakuto responds with a trap card that puts all his monsters into defense mode. Yuga uses Sevens Road Witch's effect to discard a card and special summon his ace monster, Seven Road Magician from his hand. While having both monsters on the field roads witch gets a boost and Yuga comes out victorious with Sevens Road Witch delivering the final blow.

After Gakuto losing Rook reaffirms the deal where Rush Duels can happen freely and even though he mentioned Gakuto would step down from being a class president, Yuga states that Rook was being greedy and asking for too much. By now we see how much Gakuto is a man at his word (or kid for that matter) and he not only allows rush duels to be played freely but he steps down as class president.

Because of the step down from Gakuto, an election had to take place and while it was between Rook and Gakuto, Gakuto ended up winning and becoming the president once again. We also see that Yuga reprogrammed Kaizo (drone) to be a stamping machine. We see how much talent Yuga has with his engineering skills which are very similar to Yuusaku (VRAINS) and Yusei (5Ds).

Overall, the episode was informative and gave a lot of insight into Gakuto while seeing the progression of rush duels. The lengths that the characters will go to help each other out makes their bond grow stronger. With all the slice of life aspects taking place in the show, it gives the audience time to see the characters in a natural state without the over saturation of duels.

With the introduction of rush duels, they have the time to put in a quick duel while being able to see the characters grow and be "fun". Since this concludes the introduction of the main group, with the coming episodes the story may begin to be more serious (while still being silly) and focus on progressing the world of rush duels.
