The Book Thief Book Review

The famous novel "The Book Thief" is based on the German civil and social context of World War II. Liezel Meminger and her brother were taken by their mother to be handed over and adopted by Foster Care authorities.

Liezel Meminger is the central character in the novel. But on the way, Liezel's younger brother died of starvation and cold. This incident hurts little Liezlett. He was only eleven years old then.

He received a book from his younger brother as a last resort. While digging his grave, it accidentally came to Liezel. This is how the first book theft happened.

Liezel did not know how to read or write at the time, but "The Gravedigger's Handbook" was an invaluable asset to him. Liezel was first educated by her foster father, Hans Huberman. He taught her to read and write with great care and love.

Liezel is constantly getting acquainted with new words through the dictionary size on the walls of the basement. In this way, his greed and addiction towards books kept on increasing.

As a result, out of love for books, he became involved in book theft several more times. The mayor's wife, Elsa, played a key role in the book's beginning. Because he has a huge library, where he allowed Liezel to read books.

Another Jewish young man named Max plays a special role. When the extermination of the Jews begins, Liz's foster father Hans gives Max a chance to hide to protect his dead friend's request.

Liezel is familiar with the words Hitler, Nazi, Communism. He learned that his parents had been abducted by German forces claiming to be communists.

Liezel learns from books and the people around her how powerful a word can be. A word can be as ugly as it is beautiful. The Book Thief provides an opportunity to view the battlefields of World War II from a humanitarian and conscious German perspective.

The story of a few pages towards the end of the book is very tragic which can make the reader muddy. The book contains descriptions of death throughout the place. The book "The Book Thief" is recommended for readers of all ages. The book teaches a lot.
