WandaVision: What Will Happen To Darcy Inside The Hex?

WARNING: SPOILERS for WandaVision episode 6, 'All-New Halloween Spooktacular!'.

A lot went on in WandaVision's sixth episode, 'All-New Halloween Spooktacular'. Vision embarked on his own investigation of Westview, the twins gained powers, hinting at their possible future as members of the Young Avengers, and finally, when Vision's investigations lead him into a spot of trouble, Wanda expands the borders of Westview to save his life.

Apart from all the other major events in the episode, the fate of one beloved character has fans particularly concerned. Heading off to meet a contact, Monica Rambeau and Jimmy Woo reluctantly let Darcy stay behind to finish hacking into Tyler Hayward's secret files. After realising that Vision is falling apart while attempting to exit the Hex, Darcy gives up her cover to try and help him, and is captured by S.W.O.R.D, before being abandoned when the agents flee, and subsequently engulfed by the Hex as it expands.

So, what will happen to Darcy Lewis inside The Hex? There are a few possibilities.

Darcy becomes a member of the S.W.O.R.D Circus

The Agents of S.W.O.R.D were not left completely unpunished for leaving poor Darcy behind. When Wanda expands the Hex to save Vision, almost the entire S.W.O.R.D camp outside Westview's original borders are consumed by it, and tranformed into a Circus Troupe.

Turning S.W.O.R.D into a circus is likely an act of revenge on Wanda's part. However, considering that Darcy was in the same vicinity, and handcuffed to a S.W.O.R.D vehicle, it stands to reason that she will be a part of the circus too. The real question then becomes, what role within the circus will she play? Some fans speculate that Darcy may emerge as the Circus's ring leader, considering the possibility that Wanda could have read her thoughts and singled her out as someone who wasn't a danger.

Actress Kat Dennings has stated in interviews that Darcy wears some very interesting costumes during the series. That has not been the case so far, so Dennings very well might be referring to Darcy's possible stint in the circus.

Since it's premiere, WandaVision has used a large amount of meta-humour. In episode 4, this is seen through Darcy and Jimmy reacting to the events in the show, while episode 5's intro included a reference to Full House, in which Elizabeth Olsen's sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley starred. 'All-New Halloween Spooktacular' featured a few subtle nods to the movie Kick-Ass, which featured both the MCU's original Pietro, Aaron Taylor Johnson, and the 'new' Pietro, Evan Peters.

Because of these meta references, many fans are expecting Darcy's Westview character to be a Waitress. Why is that, you ask? Kat Dennings starred as waitress Max Black in the popular sitcom Two Broke Girls for six seasons, from 2011 to 2017.

Darcy will be rescued by Vision

Whatever 'sitcom' character Darcy inhabits in Westview, fans don't expect her to be stuck in it too long. Many expect that, once Vision recovers from his distressing time outside the Hex, he might find Darcy, possibly even recognising her as having tried to help him. From episode 5 onwards, Vision has shown the ability to wake Westview residents from mind-control. Fans hope that he will do the same for Darcy, and since she will, we assume, have been under control for a shorter amount of time, waking up will hopefully be slightly less traumatic for her.

Kat Dennings was rumoured to have been seen filming some one-on-one scenes with Paul Bettany during production of WandaVision, adding to this theory. If true, Darcy could find a way to contact Monica and Jimmy, becoming their 'Man On The Inside' of the Westview anomaly. She could also reveal to Vision what she knows of Monica's experiences in Westview, perhaps nudging him back towards more gentle tactics when dealing with Wanda.

If we've learned one thing from WandaVision so far, it is to expect the unexpected. We can't wait to see what the next episode holds for Darcy.
