Kate Watson as Kristen Cargill

I was very excited for this Lifetime film, Dangerous Snow Day; the reason is obvious, but I will get to it. This film centered on Maggie Ford, who worked as a nanny for the wealthy Cargill family. We see geniality from couple Kristen and Frederick Cargill, with the latter giving Maggie a necklace as a gift. At that moment, Maggie announced that she would be leaving as their nanny, as she was focusing on her education, drawing what seemed like panic from the Cargills, mainly Frederick. Kristen voiced her own assurance that she could care for the kids, only for Frederick to shoot that down quickly. All right, then.

Frederick and Maggie attempt a private negotiation, but it later turns into Frederick making a physical pass at Maggie, who loudly turns him down and berates him for his actions, only to end up ejected by Frederick. We later see Maggie, unfortunately, deal with the aftermath of the incident, which sees her being blacklisted from various jobs. She later met with Kristen and told her about Frederick's actions, and we see some apparent shock and sympathy from Kristen, but when it came to Maggie's request to see the kids, well, Kristen denies her.

Maggie went to the police regarding Frederick, doing so after she is nearly run down by a speeding car, and while deputy Holden Hayes couldn't do much due to Maggie's suspicions being a hunch, he still confided in Maggie and actually did some digging of his own. The digging ended up being literal later on, as some remains were found and they were revealed to be none other than a young woman by the name of Ashley Coleman, who was the Cargills' last nanny. The plot thickens.

Maggie confided in best friend Hannah over everything, but later on, she is contacted by Kristen, who asked her to watch her children for one night while she's visiting her mother. Maggie agrees, but we see Hannah run down by a speeding vehicle; she survived but was hospitalized. Frederick ended up arrested and interrogated, and the following day saw Maggie drop the kids off at school, while an indignant Kristen phoned Maggie and asked why the house was empty, while accusing Maggie of being with Frederick. Maggie told Kristen that Frederick was arrested, and later went to the Cargill house, where Kristen continued berating Maggie and accusing her of planning to replace her. We later see Frederick return home and berate Maggie for "getting him in trouble," after which Frederick chased her out of the house.

Frederick informed Maggie that while he didn't kill Ashley, he'd gladly kill Maggie, only for Kristen to knock out her husband with a shovel. Maggie thanked Kristen for saving her, but Kristen would later knock out Maggie with that same shovel! Wow! As I am coming down from the high I got from Kristen's heel turn, I focus on the climax, which sees both Frederick and Maggie tied up by Kristen, who lashed out at both of them under her belief that they were having an affair. She also mentioned Ashley, adding that Frederick had an obsession with her even after she was fired, which led to the revelation that Kristen killed Ashley. Kristen was also behind the attempts to kill both Maggie and Hannah, and as she berated Frederick for his philandering, Frederick escaped and tackled his wife. Kristen managed to kill Frederick, but her attempt on Maggie fails due to the nanny knocking her out, and afterwards, Kristen is arrested.

Dangerous Snow Day aired on Lifetime Movie Network on December 11, 2021, and after several appearances as a lead protagonist in Lifetime films, Kate Watson takes the stage as a villainess, portraying the evil Kristen Cargill. When I saw this listed on Lifetime, when I read the synopsis, I knew...I knew that this film would be Watson's first villainous role--it was basically written for her to be evil. Months ago, I listed five Lifetime film actresses who should finally play a villainess (click here for the story), and Kate Watson was #1 on that list. I knew that she would shine in a villainous role, and she proved me right with this film. Kristen Cargill was definitely deranged, and we actually see hints of it early in the film; the way she approached Maggie in the film's beginning? Clear sign of clingy demeanor.

With that, the question wasn't "Will Kristen turn heel?," it was "How will she do it?," and bashing Maggie with that shovel after appearing to save her? Absolute perfection. We would later see Watson act out Kristen's maniacal persona and her vengeful demeanor very well, as she voices her hatred of Frederick, Maggie, and her murder victim, Ashley Coleman. In all, Watson shined in this film, which is nothing new; she shines a lot in all of the Lifetime films she's done (especially Killer Competition). And as far as Kate Watson playing a villainess, I only have one word, and I'll say it twice: "Encore! Encore!"
