On Monday's episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Victoria Newman brings out a kinder gentler side of the Lockness monster. Prior to his showing up in Genoa City there was a build up for how big, bad, and bold this man is. Viewers expected a take no prisoners, fire breathing dragon and initially that’s seemed to be true. Tara gave everyone the impression that her husband was an evil ogre and Summer was frightened out of her mind worrying about what he would do when he found out about Kyle and Tara's affair.

Ashland threw his weight around, attempted to destroy Jabot and threatened Crystal and Phyllis at the Grand Phoenix. Once Tara admitted that her son Harrison belonged to Kyle everyone was on edge regarding the "monster's reaction. Victor got the best of him when he refused to dial 911 until Locke signed over his company but Ashland recovered from his heart attack. Now he and the Newman patriarch are friends and instead of calling Victor out for his dispicable d Ed Ashland is agreeing with his attitude towards Billy.

For some reason, a spark ignited between Ashland and Victoria but viewers thought they were only using each other and would plot to take down Victor and Adam. There still may be a possibility of boardroom drama but the exchange between the duo while dining at Society is quite interesting. There is a touching moment when Ashland decides to tell Victor's daughter that he is not Harrison's biological father. Vicki shares with him that she is not Johnny's birth mom but still his mother.

Ashland admits that he will remain in Harrison's life no matter what and will obtain his own DNA test. He also shared that he does not know how Tara could lie to him for 3 years about the paternity of the boy he has been raising. In this moment Ashland seems thoughtful and reflective rather than angry and perhaps Vicki’s admission touches him. For viewers of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS who don’t know or have forgotten about Johnny it’s a tragic story of Victor’s interference. When Billy Abbott was in Mayamar Victor hired Chelsea to seduce him while he was drunk and she lied that Billy raped her.

He was imprisoned on trumped up charges but Victor finally had him released on the condition that he never contact Victoria again. Later Chelsea showed up pregnant in Genoa City looking for Billy and caused all kinds of problems. Chelsea eventually signed over the rights to her firstborn to Billy and Victoria who are raising him as their own. Although Victor hates Billy Boy, he adores his grandson. It’s still not clear what Victoria and Ashland will be up to seperatly or together but it does look as if they may actually begin to care for one another.

Ashland is supposed to stick around GENOA CITY through th summer so viewers should brace themselves for the unexpected. Everything will hinge on his DNA results which many viewers believe will prove Ashland is the child’s father. In heaven he meantime viewers have seeen a softer side to the beast and a vulnerable moment with Victoria. The YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS writers obviously have a method to this madness but viewers have yet to figure it all out.

Ashland and Victoria could have a fling and or some corrupt business deals along the way. Vicki knows her father wants to crush Billy and Chance Com so she might talk Locke into some type of counter attack. She also would love to make Billy jealous and working with and or dating the Lockness monster will do just that. Jack has tried to appeal to Austin to calm down and not seek any revenge that will damage Harrison but there is no telling what will happen so stay tuned.
