The Young and the Restless: Richard Burgi renews his contract

In November it was revealed that Richard Burgi had renewed his contract with The Young and the Restless and fans wondered what this meant for his character. Many viewers have believed from the beginning that he has been lying about his illness and this news seems to confirm that fact. If Locke were terminal with only a short time to live then his portrayer would not have signed on for more time on the CBS soap.

Spoilers are now reporting that everything fans have been suspecting will soon be proven to be true. Ashland has been pulling a scam on the Newmans in an attempt to take over the company his wife is running. It's allegedly going to be revealed that he is not dying of cancer and if true the spoilers from earlier in the year will have been correct. It was stated during the summer that after Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) married Locke she would end up heartbroken and alone.

Many who watch The Young and the Restless assumed at the time thought this meant that Vicki's new husband would succumb to cancer and leave her a widow. Now spoilers are saying that Ashland never had cancer. Y&R viewers have been pointing out that Victoria has never once accompanied her husband to any of his appointments which is very odd. Fans are saying that Vicki should have been by her husband's side through all of this and the storyline made no sense.

The Young and the Restless: Victor gains the upper hand

Viewers also wondered why Victor seemed smitten with his new son-in-law and went out of his way to protect him? Victor saw how happy Victoria was with Ashland and this also gave him an opportunity to stick it to Billy Boy Abbott (Jason Thompson) whom he despises. Now it is being implied that Victor was tolerating the Lockeness monster and watching and waiting to see how he would treat his daughter.

Victor refused to dial 911 when Ashland was having a heart attack and forced him to sign away his company before calling for help. Many Y&R viewers wondered why the "monster" accepted this and went on to be friends with the man who was going to let him die. If spoilers are correct then Locke has been using Victoria in a scheme to get back at her father. In interviews, Burgi has said that Ashland loves Vicki and he even teased that perhaps he would give her a baby to remember him by when he passed away. Either he was not aware of the plot twist or was keeping it quiet.

It's been a while since Victor has shown his ruthless side and fans are tired of the feuds with Billy. It will be interesting to watch this play out and see Ashland get what is coming to him. Victoria has been smug and condescending when it comes to Billy and Lily Winters Ashby (Christel Khalil). She will not receive a lot of sympathy from Y&R fans when everything hits her at one time. Viewers have been wondering why Ashland was not living up to his reputation and now it seems he was just laying low and waiting to strike.

Spoilers suggest that Victor will turn on his daughter's husband and it will not be pretty. This should please Nick Newman (Josh Morrow) who has been questioning why his father shut down his attempts to expose Locke for the snake that he is. Be on the lookout for The Young and the Restless updates related to how Victor deals with Ashland as they become available.
