'The Young and the Restless' breaking news from inside sources

Those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS should prepare themselves for some major changes based on alleged set insiders. There is never a guarantee that "leakers" will give accurate information but many times they are on the money. Spoilers used to be reliable but now they are written with question marks and soap fans become disgruntled when what they read does not come to pass. Please keep this in mind as you read what is currently being projected for the CBS soap.

The rumor mill has stated that Hunter King is leaving Y&R and Michael Mealor won't be far behind but CBS is keeping mum and has not given any confirmation. King is said to have asked for more flexibility in her schedule so she could work on outside projects but was turned down. Hunter King is going to be on a prime time western series titled Prospect but there is no word on whether or not she will return to THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS to reunite with Kyle.

Spoilers tease that their reconnect might take place completely off screen which will be a blow to the many Skyle fans. Michael Mealor is reported to have sought a pay raise and did not get it so contract allegedly his negotiations fell through. This is a blow to the show as well as viewers to lose two of the most popular cast members at thsi current time.

Many fans of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS are hoping that something might still be worked out and that Kyle and Summer will remain in Genoa City. The rumor at this point is that Kyle will go to Milan and the couple will be reunited. It's not known whether or not this will take place on screen or off. Viewers could tell that in last Monday's episiode Summer was devastated and that Hunter King was crying for real as she said goodbye to her family and friends.

Billy and Victor's rivalry will continue and will probably escalate because of Victoria's relationship with Ashton and Billy's hatred for Adam. Nikki and her husband are concerned about their daughter's recent actions but know she is an adult and will make her own decisions. Victor and Adam are playing nice right now but everything could change should the rumors about Chelsea be proven true. Adam is already demanding answers because he found his wife's psychiatrist at the ranch so this will definately bring big changes.

Melissa Claire Egan will be going on an extended maternity leave soon so Chelsea will not be on camera for quite some time. She is working on a plot to escape Fairview but it's not known whether or not she will take Conner and disappear. Some viewers became concerned when Nick decided to go with Summer on the Newman jet and wondered if Josh Morrow might be leaving THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS but there is nothing to indicate that this is true.

Set insiders are revealing that the CBS soap needs to tighten its budget and that some veterans may be bumped to recurring status. If this is true then why not work with Hunter King and allow her to be recurring and pursue other interests? Regarding Michael Mealor, some viewers wonder why actors such as he cannot budget like the average working person and live within their means. Soap stars are already being paid much more than the everyday working person. This has some fans saying they are selfish to demand more millions while regular folk scrape by on minimum wage.

On the flip side THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS needs to stop adding new characters who do not really fit in. No offenses to Courtney Hope who is a terrific actress but Sally Spectra has no reason to be in Genoa City. Once her actions come to light she will lose her job with Lauren and have no reason to stick around. Ashland and Tara are only causing trouble and viewers are wondering the purpose of Stitch returning to town.

There is also Amanda's extended family of her mother, sister, and grandfather. This storyline will more than likely be wrapped up soon but some viewers don't understand why these characters along with Tara and Ashton were even added to the cast. Christian Telsmar will join the Y&R cast on July 8 and 9 as Tyler but it's not known if this will be the same Tyler that had designs on Abby and Lily. It's been reported that Ashton will be gone by the end of the summer but no one knows if he is really dying or not. Be sure to stay tuned for additional updates to what is happening in Genoa City.
