Spencer Cassadine has returned to GENERAL HOSPITAL but not as a 14 year old Nicolas Bechtel. The son of Prince Nikolas and Courtney Corinthos is now being portrayed by 21 year old Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Bechtel is beloved by fans wh0 watched him grow and mature from a child in 2006 into a handsome teen. The current storyline, however, dictates that the character needs to be older and a bit darker, and thus a recast was chosen. Many viewers have expressed disbelief that the role was recast but now Chavez will make it his own.

This will be the first major role for Nicholas Chavez who has an impressive following on Instagram and Twitter. Nothing is listed regarding his past acting roles or his early years. On Friday, Chavez as Spencer was lurking around Ava's gallery and was almost caught by Trina who sprayed pepper spray on Nikolas because she had no idea anyone else was in the gallery. Nikolas had set a silent alarm for the person who has been terrorizing Ava and many fans wonder why it never occurred to him that it might be his son.

Spencer's disguise

Laura, Kevin, and Nik all know how precautious Spencer was as a boy and a young teen, plus he has the codes to get into Wyndemere. Everyone knows he is angry with his father for pretending to be dead for 3 years and also angry that Nikolas married Ava. Instead of considering that Spencer may be embracing his Cassadine genes, the focus was on Ryan Chamberlain.

Spencer was running around Ava's gallery dressed in a Ninja face mask that only revealed his eyes. He set a trap for Ava with a fake bucket of blood but Trina is the one who gets dumped on. She showed up at her graduation party dripping in fake blood and the guests were all in shock. Now that Spencer is on the seen it's only a matter of time before his antics come to light and he has to account for his actions. On Monday he removed his disguise and introduced himself to Trina after she had cleaned up but not using his given name.

The beloved Nicolas Bechtel is out as Spencer.

There definitely was chemistry between Trina and Spencer but he became angry when she began singing the praises of Ava Jerome. It's clear that Spencer has harsh feelings for his stepmother and this will lead to many issues with him and his dad, Now that the mask is off it's time for Spencer to reveal himself to Nikolas because he cannot hide forever. If Trina and Nikolas begin dating then perhaps Joss and Came may move away from the friend zone.

Some GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers have been saying they would like to see Anna Devane's granddaughter Emma Drake, (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) return and become the love of Spencer's life. Emma might be a bit tame for this version of the mayor's grandson but Trina would go toe to toe with him and not back down. The first thing that needs to take place is for Spencer to be revealed as the culprit who frightened Ava, angered Nikolas, and used little Avery in his twisted scheme.

Will Joss and cam find true love?

Since Chavez is much older than his predecessor it would seem that GENERAL HOSPITAL would have the new Spencer held accountable for his actions unlike in the past when he got away with everything. This is some serious stuff that he has been doing and puts him in league with crazies like Ryan Chamberlain. Be on the lookout for updates to this storyline as they become available.

It's looking like the new Spencer will be a chip off the old Cassadine block and give his father a run for the money. happens next. Now that he has returned things are going to heat up around Port Charles and probably in more ways than one. Good luck to Nicholas Alexander Chavez in his new role. GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers are eager to find out the direction his relationship with Trina will take.
