The Spider-Men I Were (By a Former Cosplayer)
Highlighting and reviewing some of my best Spider-Man suits

Near the end of November 2018, a package arrived to me, and it was a costume that I would try on for the first time. Once I tried it on and took pictures with me wearing it, I was automatically hooked. That costume was my first Spider-Man suit. It's worth noting that this was around the time when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was about to be released in theaters. The aforementioned suit will be on the list I'll highlight in this story. I'll share some of my favorite Spider-Man suits I loved the most. These entries aren't in any particular order. Let me know which suit is your favorite in the comments below.
Sam Raimi Spider-Man Suit

May 2027 will mark the 25th anniversary of Spider-Man being released in theaters. I was 14 years old at the time and the first Marvel movie I've seen. I bought this suit in 2022, which was the 20th anniversary of the film's release. I love everything about this suit and by the way, I got it from Supergeek Designs. I'll have a link to the site at the end of this story. In my opinion, Tobey Maguire will always be the best actor who portrayed Spider-Man the best. Sorry, Tom Holland.
First Captain Spidey Suit (2018)

Remember at the beginning of the story where I mentioned I received and tried on my first Spider-Man suit? The next suit on this list was Captain Spidey. Why did I say that it was my first Captain Spidey suit? I lived with my now ex-roommate from October 2018 until mid-March 2019. He accepted a job offer, so he moved back home to Michigan while I was homeless for a while because my new apartment wasn't ready for me to move in yet. One night, under mysterious circumstances, one of the backpacks that had my suit, was stolen. It was nowhere to be found. At first, I was sad it was taken from me. However, two years later, I ordered and received another Captain Spidey suit. I still have it to this day. Many people on TikTok commented that the design in the middle of the suit looked like the Puerto Rican flag. A Captain America shield goes well with this suit. I have pictures of me holding one of my friend's Captain America shield.
Symbiote Spider-Man

In the middle of 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic was still present. I wanted to do a cosplay photoshoot to get out of the house for a while. The Symbiote Spider-Man suit I bought was from Supergeek Designs, just like the first entry on this list. The patterns, lenses on the mask, and of course, the logo all stood out the most. One day, I got in touch with a local cosplay photographer and we scheduled to do a photoshoot on a Saturday at a park. It was so much fun, and we did another one at a different place. My photographer told me that it would take him a few weeks to edit the photos he had taken of me. When he sent me the final results via Instagram, I was highly impressed. The edits were amazing and blew my mind. I wrote a story about preparing for a cosplay photoshoot. I'll have the link to the story at the end of this story. Going back to the suit, I loved it so much and was a great fit for my body.
First Miles Morales Suit (2020)

2020 was the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Cons were either postponed, cancelled altogether, or went on with strict health protocols. I was on a leave of absence from my job but was paid bi-weekly. Around the middle of that year, I started using TikTok more often and had a modest following. My Miles Morales videos (this suit in particular) generally got thousands of views and people loved them. I got this suit from RPC Studio and in case you're unfamiliar with them, they sell props, other products, and of course, Spider-Man suits. There are over 150 suits to choose from and yes, there’s also Spiderwoman suits: over two dozen to choose from. When you order a suit, you’re in control of how you want it customized, such as the size of your suit, head size for you mask, and shoe size. The length of how long it’ll take for your suit to be completed varies by suit. For example, I had to wait four to eight weeks for my suit to be completed. When that process is done, you’ll receive an email confirmation stating that it has been shipped out and expect to wait up to 2-3 weeks for your suit to arrive at your home. If you’re willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a webtastic suit, then RPC Studio might be the site for you. On the front of my suit, the symbol was made using puffy paint and had 3D webbing on the front of it, too. The symbol on the back is the same, but it wasn’t done using puffy paint. You can also see the 3D webbing, just like the front of the suit. I'll have a link to my full review of the suit down below. I love this suit so much and when I saw Into The Spider-Verse months earlier, I automatically fell in love with the suit. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters in June 2027 and it's the final movie in the Spider-Verse trilogy. Would I buy and wear a suit to see the final film? Only time will tell. It all depends on if Miles will have a new Spider-Man suit.
Iron Spider Suit (2021)

This suit worn by Tom Holland was first seen in Avengers: Infinity War back in 2018. We would see him don it two more times in Endgame (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The suit is metallic red, and the dark blue and gold accents compliments it so much. Finally, the mask that I was holding in this picture was perfect. A bit tight, but I loved it. The overall appearance of the suit caught my attention immediately. The next movie in the Tom Holland Era is Brand New Day, which will be released in theaters on July 31.
Miles Morales Across The Spider-Verse Suit (2023)

The final Spider-Man suit was the last one I bought back in 2023, just weeks before Across The Spider-Verse was released in theaters. This was also one of the final two cosplays I debuted at a con before retiring from cosplay in late 2024. Why is a crown on my head, you ask? Burger King had a promotional tie-in for the upcoming movie, and I've tried the Spider-Verse Whopper. It was so delicious. Anyway, the feel and look of this suit felt amazing (no pun intended). The logo was bold and stood out well. The mask (not pictured) fit my enormous head to a T.
Whenever a Spider-Man movie comes out in theaters, I wear a suit to the movie theater. The last time I've done that was in 2023 and at the time of my cosplay retirement, I had worn Spider-Man suits for nearly six years. Since retiring from cosplay, I only wear Spider-Man t-shirts on occasion.
