The Snow Girl Series Review

A series of dark and complex mysteries

The series follows a young journalist with a vengeful determination to help the parents of a little girl who disappears during a Málaga-based parade.

Snow Girl creates a hell for women. They were kidnapped, drugged, tortured and manipulated. They don't always need to be physically touched, as some men stare at them and make them feel uncomfortable. Also, a woman's age doesn't matter. It could be a toddler or an adult in their 40s. Males attack females without hesitation. So in Snow Girl, a 5-year-old girl disappears and a woman tries to recover from a sexual assault. We also heard about a woman who was strangled by her husband. Some boys watch Miren (Milena Smit), a journalist, drinking alone in a bar. Another character made vulgar comments to him. In general, being a woman is not easy. No wonder a "mother" said to her "daughter" like this: "The world is full of wicked people".

But if The Snow Girl shows women as victims, it also shows them as executioners. They are persecuted, but they are also punished. They can be both powerful and vulnerable. Snow Girl has many themes and messages, and it's also a good horror movie. The good news is that it's never heavy and deftly does justice to its elements. Snow Girl is the rare show that cleverly combines ideas with its genre without leaning too much to one side. The movie strikes the perfect balance and is very engaging to watch.

Snow Girl is aware of our prejudices and she only harbors them only to overthrow them later, leading to a clever and shocking plot in the fifth act. For example, most crimes against women are often (and initially) viewed through the lens of sexual assault. And in The Snow Girl, we not only meet lewd-looking men, but also discover a porn website/racquet. Furthermore, there is a pedophile here. That's why, when Amaya went missing during a Christmas parade in Malaga, and the police found out from witnesses that two (or maybe three) men might have been involved, everyone was suggested that Amaya was held captive by depraved desires. Of course, suspicion falls on a family friend with a troubled past. But is he guilty of kidnapping Amaya? Even if he wasn't, he committed a heinous crime a long time ago, which makes him evil, doesn't it? If so, doesn't he deserve a second chance? After all, he says he's changed now. I will not reveal the identity of the real culprit. But yes, this moment comes with its own set of questions and a tsunami of terror. When her parents mourn her daughter, Miren is haunted by a heartbreaking incident. Through these characters, Snow Girl shows how tragedy turns into trauma and terrifies you for a long time. In one scene, Alvaro (Raúl Prieto) and Ana (Loreto Mauleón) - Amaya's parents - attack each other with questions like: "Why did you let go of his hand?" and "What's Amaya's favorite song?" The aim is to make a point:

When we are in trouble, suffering blinds us and we end up making ourselves feel guilty. It's fine, but that scene has little dramatic flavor.

Snow Girl nicely exploits the thrill of a moving box (what's in it?) and stillness on television (what images will we see?). Great writing, and the actors are admirable.
