The Green Lanterns are known for their ability to create constructs made of pure energy, limited only by their willpower and imagination.

The Green Lanterns' origins trace back to the Guardians of the Universe, a group of extraterrestrial beings who sought to protect the universe from evil. They created the Green Lantern Corps, and their rings choose their bearers based on their ability to overcome great fear.

The Red Lantern Corps is fueled by rage. Their rings are powered by the energy of the red spectrum, and their members are often depicted as being in a constant state of anger.

The Blue Lanterns were created by Ganthet and Sayd, two former members of the Guardians of the Universe who sought to create a corps based on hope. Their rings require the presence of a Green Lantern to activate, and they enhance the power of the Green Lantern's ring.

The main characters associated with the Blue Lantern Corps include Saint Walker, the first Blue Lantern and the one who revived the corps, and Brother Warth, a member of the Indigo Tribe who joined the Blue Lantern Corps after being freed from their control. Their weakness is the absence of the green ring wielder as hope is nothing without willpower to enact it.

The Star Sapphires were created by the Zamarons, a group of female aliens who broke away from the Guardians of the Universe. Their rings choose their bearers based on their ability to love deeply and selflessly.

The main characters associated with the Violet Lantern Corps include Carol Ferris, the love interest of Hal Jordan and the first human member of the corps, and Miri Riam, a former member of the Sinestro Corps who became a Star Sapphire after experiencing love for the first time.
