Anybody is a superhero. Get out your costumes and let’s fight crime.

Pixar’s The Incredibles flew into theaters in 2004. The father of a family of undercover superheroes is called into a mission. Due to the circumstances of their mission, the whole family has to take action to save the world.

I still remember seeing The Incredibles for the first time in theaters back in 2004. The Incredibles was the hype of 2004. Highlighting the life of a superhero, it’s a fun subject. Enhancing the definition of what a superhero is, The Incredibles also defines family.

Pixar gave the characters of The Incredibles impeccable depth. After having his status of being a superhero unfairly taken away from him, Bob Parr didn’t adapt to normal life so well. Having the chance to relive his days as a superhero, Bob is put in a difficult position.

The Parr family has the best dynamic. They are presented as a realistic family. The family dinner scene will never get old. Each given relatable insecurities, this adventure helps them grow - personally and as a family. The Incredibles is the first Pixar film to have a full family, unlike other films where there was a missing parent.

The voice casting is the most memorable part of The Incredibles. Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter excelled in their interactions, especially in a heated argument. In contrast to other animated films, writers did not shy away from showcasing a realistic argument between parents.

Spencer Fox and Sarah Vowell had a fun time. Dash and Violet illustrate the norms of adolescence. Whether they were insecure or wanted to be noticed, they demonstrate how having superpowers can be a negative influence. Be proud of yourself.

You’ll also recognize voice talents by Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Lee, Elizabeth Pena, Wallace Shawn, the late Bud Luckey, and a tremendous performance by Brad Bird as Edna, one of Pixar’s most iconic characters. Everything from Edna’s appearance, personality, and her positive way of looking at the world make her stand out.

Villains have a strong impact on all films. The motivation behind their behaviors is important to get right. Syndrome meets the definition of evil. If Pixar didn’t explore his past, then Syndrome wouldn’t make us think. Characters should be realistic as possible.

Animation is outstanding in The Incredibles. Long hours were spent on character designs, backgrounds, and exhilarating action sequences. Filmmakers studied action films closely. I was fond of the pacing. The climax of The Incredibles is one of the best fight scenes. I remember every kid in the movie theater sitting forward in their seats in the theater.

Change and acceptance are notable themes in The Incredibles. Decisions are not always up to you. Accepting what we have and living the life we have should be the first step. If your passion is ever taken from you, it’s okay to fight. Just don’t fight for it the rest of your life. Accept it, move on, and keep enjoying life.

Brad Bird directed an outstanding action film. He accomplished the best fight sequences. Bird defined what a hero is. He actually hired a tailor to come into the studio to help with the design of fabrics for the characters. His attention to detail was highly noted.

It doesn’t matter how many times I have seen this film. I always find myself watching The Incredibles anytime that it’s on. Every sequence is suspenseful, keeping your eyes glued to the screen.

You have to see this Pixar film if you have not seen it. The Incredibles is a film that all superhero fans will enjoy.
