There is a saying that "the experience of hardship is the wealth of our growth", and people who talk like this usually have experienced hardship and come out of it with certain achievements. Therefore, suffering can always be treated as a kind of sharpening in today's memory. Suffering for these people can be used as bragging rights because later they succeeded. However, not all hardships are transformed into a basis for success, and many people have experienced hardships but have not been able to achieve success.

Suffering is not wealth, this varies from person to person, but suffering is suffering, no one wants to thank it, because the person who experienced it is in pain at the time, and occasionally success can go to thank the suffering, those who failed, the people who were struck down by the suffering? I would like to believe that they are not timid, they are just ordinary people.

The Angel at My Table is a story about suffering that makes people successful, but the main character, Janet, may not want to let that success come to her if it is only the result of suffering.

The film tells the story of an introverted girl named Janet's twisted upbringing. As a child, she had all sorts of strange ideas, but whether at home or school, Janet was not the most visible one, her classmates did not like her because of her curly and fluffy hair, and Janet could not get more attention at home, because there were three other children in the family. With no one to solve the problems she encountered growing up, Janet had to stay in her world and look forward to growing up.

However, after she became an adult and even found a job, Janet's lonely personality did not change at all, and tragedy continued in her path. Janet was originally a teacher, but was misdiagnosed as a schizophrenic and was confined to a mental institution for eight years. During the eight years, ordinary people would have gone crazy, but for Janet, the quiet environment helped her grow differently, and she learned to write and became a successful writer in this environment.

After being released from the psychiatric hospital, Janet continued her writing journey, but everything did not get better because of her efforts. Janet's writing journey was just like her difficult fate, constantly experiencing twists and turns, moving forward, during which she met a short-lived love, and also met all kinds of people, they were all passing, and no one in Janet's life could leave a trace. Yet, even so, Janet's writing career progressed more and more. But is this really what she is after?

Janet's story is remembered because of her success. Janet wrote about her suffering and became a writer, but what about those who cannot write about their suffering? Writers are a minority, after all, and will the majority still get attention? This is a question.

If Janet does not succeed, does her writing still have meaning, and will her life still be remembered? We preach that suffering gives growth, or that growth should be grateful for suffering. These words can come from the mouth of any successful person, but are successful people the majority in this world? Of course not. How should those who have failed, those who have not experienced success, how should they describe their lives?

Suffering is not a capital that can be used to show off after success, nor is it a source of motivation to push people forward in times of failure. We can't glorify anyone's suffering experience because a few people have turned suffering into motivation, suffering is suffering, and no one wants to go through suffering if there is a choice.

What Janet wants is a life where she is noticed and wanted, but she hits walls everywhere, always giving the best of herself to those who show a little kindness to her, even if that kindness is always hurried. Yet Janet continues to give back these kindnesses with her greatest love. The reason for this is that growing up, she was always the one who was overlooked.

Perhaps Janet's story gives us the image of a person who has worked hard to live, but all individuals have pains, and when these efforts manifest into a kind of success, we see it, yet what is the meaning of Janet's existence if not a consolation prize as a conclusion to her story? We do need to have compassion for those who have not succeeded but have experienced suffering because those who have succeeded have used their success to get noticed, while those who have failed have not.

If Janet suffered from mental illness if she did not learn to write in the hospital if writing repeatedly failed, if ...... Janet is still Janet, if there is a choice, she will choose to be noticed by many people on their growth path, and will choose to be an ordinary person in their growth, the writer is not her ultimate goal, she wants only to love and care, if there is the choice, no one will refuse?
