The Boys

Season 4 Episode 6

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 3 days ago 3 min read

The last episode of The Boys definitely moved our plot along a lot more. Butcher has Nueman’s husband held hostage wanting him to recreate the virus. Something is going on with Starlight, for some reason her powers have been shitting out. Honestly it feels a little like they just don’t know what to do with her this season. Kimiko was a little on the backburner last episode and Ryan is being turned into a little, mini Homelander which is about to be super terrifying. Frenchie turned himself into the police…hate that. That is where we left off last week, what better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than watching The Boys Season 4 Episode 6.

The opening scene of this episode really supports the idea that Jeffery Dean Morgan is one of Butcher’s hallucinations. Now with someone else in the room it's very clear that Butcher is the only one that can see and hear him.

Huey seems really okay with his dad’s death…like he’s adjusting well. He seems to just like having his mom around. There is no way that will last long. We can’t have happy characters, that would be crazy.

My poor Kimiko can’t go see Frenchie because he refused visitation. Honestly their relationship this season has been very rocky and it's very upsetting. Their relationship has been one of the driving factors of this show and to not have that on screen could be one of the reasons that people think that this season isn’t as strong.

A-Train is freaking out playing double against because of the death of the news anchor. It appears that Homelander is amassing an army of supes. Neumann and Sage teaming up actually seems natural, if only they would take that energy and direct it against Homelander instead of buckling under him. Firecracker being ostracized by the actual useful supes is hilarious, she should feel less then, she sucks. Poor Huey being stuck in this little kink dungeon with Tek Knight is so upsetting.

Starlight and Firecracker are super annoying…their storyline makes no sense. Annie has been a main character for 3 seasons now and I feel like they just ran out of things for her to do.

MM shoots Sage which is really gonna take the wind out of Homelander. She has been the driving force behind all the plans this season and now she is gone. MM then immediately passes out.

I do love that they keep coming up with ways for Kimiko to communicate without talking, the book thing was really creative.

I know that it only played for about 30 seconds but the use of The things We Do For Love by 10CC was both random and a little traumatizing. That is a song that has a deep, personal meaning for me and it was a little triggering and super unexpected so that was fun.

Homelander rallies political figures and supes against the president. And Homelander is losing his mind because he is realizing that politicians don’t actually operate on party lines, they only care about money and how that benefits them. Neumann taking over the conversation was great because she understands them and politics.

Internment camps sounds like Erik Kripke really turned the dial to 11 trying to hammer home that Homelander is the bad guy. There is no nuance here, there is no motivation other than power. He is evil and nothing else. That shouldn’t have to be explained to people but recent internet discourse says otherwise.

Huey was raped and he never really grieved his dad and he’s been through a lot in like 48 hours. Poor boy is not fine at all.

Confirmed that Butcher is just hallucinating Joe. He’s got an angel and a devil on his shoulder that his tumored up brain is fighting against.

We end the episode with Butcher realizing that his brain is super fucked up. Homelander is back to being coddled like an actual baby. And we now know that in order for the virus to be strong enough to kill Homelander, it would then be airborne in a way that would kill all Supes. So now Butcher has a decision to make. Though the only scientist that they have doesn’t seem like he would risk his wife and daughter for himself so I’m really not that worried about it. Huey has a breakdown and honestly they just need to leave that boy alone for a few weeks and let him process and recover. Starlight is still pretty useless and we still don’t have an explanation as to why.
