Taj Mowry: He avoided the curses of being a child star and working for Disney
The talented actor dodged the bullet of double trouble that plagued a number of his peers.
Tahj Mowry is still going strong
Tahj Dayton Mowry is a former child actor who was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 17, 1986. He is the younger brother of identical twin actresses Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry and is known for his roles on several popular televisions shows. At 35 he has dodged two alleged curses that have plagued the lives of other young people in showbusiness. A number of child stars, including those who were on Disney programs have been in trouble with the law, addicted to drugs and or alcohol, dealt with mental health challenges, or all the above. Some have died tragically and a few took their own lives.
Mowry began his career at age 4 as Greg on Who's The Boss in the episode "Who's Minding the Kid?" From 1991–1995 he appeared on 14 episodes of Full House as Teddy the friend of Michelle Tanner ( Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen). From 1992–1993 he portrayed Shavon in 5 episodes of Out All Night. In 1993 he was Jimmy in Where I Live in the episode "The Terminator," and in 1994 he lent his voice to Alladin and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Tahj Mowry has maintained what he obtained
From 1995–1998 he guest-starred on 4 episodes of his siblings' sitcom Sister, Sister on ABC as Cousin Tahj and Sammy T J, and in 1996 Mowry appeared in one episode of each of the following series: Star Trek: Voyager on UPN, and Minor Adjustments and Friends both on ABC. In 1997 he was on The Weird Al Show as himself and that same year he was the lead character TJ Henderson in Disney's Smart Guy which aired on the WB until 1999.
It is rare in the entertainment business for child actors to maintain roles through the teen years and into adulthood. Some have become distressed that they were not able to continue in their profession. This was the plight of the children in the Our Gang and The Little Rascal films who aged out and found it difficult to obtain adult roles. Tahj was as in demand as a teen as he was as a young boy which is not the norm.

In 2006 Mowry was in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and in 2007 he stepped away from Disney for a more adult role when he appeared on Desperate Housewives as Matt.
From 2012-2017 he starred as Tucker Dobbs in Baby Daddy and was a guest co-host on The Real in 2015. In 2021 he was in Family Reunion and the pilot for Black Don't Crack but the show was not picked up. Mowry impressive career also includes the following:
