Tyler Christopher's fan may be disappointed

Soap veteran Tyler Christopher (born Tyler Christopher Baker) recently shared some exciting news with his social media followers related to two current events in his life. Anyone who was expecting the actor to say he was reprising one of his most recent daytime roles was disappointed. Tyler is a fan favorite and a 2 and 1/2 year campaign took place that was supposed to get him back in one of his roles but that character was recast. Now it looks like it may be a while before the actor is working in his craft again.

Tyler Christopher's life change

Christopher does not spend a lot of time on social media but after an extended absence, he returned in October 2021 to the delight of his fans. He recently announced that his life had taken "a little detour" (from acting) as he had moved from LA to San Diego, California. He did not say how long he planned to reside at his new residence but teased a possible return to LA someday.

Tyler's second announcement was that his first film 1999’s Catfish in Black Bean Sauce, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a re-release on Amazon Prime Video. The actor acknowledged the milestone by saying “Have been in a dozen or so since, but will always remember my first fondly.”

Tyler Christopher is humble

This is a much different attitude than Christopher's former castmate the late Stuart Damon who portrayed Alan Quartermaine on General Hospital. Stuart was often recognized by fans because of one of his first and most popular roles. He portrayed Prince Charming in the 1965 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical television special Cinderell.

His co-star was Leslie Anne Warren in the title role. Warren, like Christopher, (regarding his first movie) said she had fond memories working on Cinderella but Damon said he did not remember his role even though many fans told him they loved him in the musical. Christopher seems to be an humble individual and while wearing his glasses he looks like mild mannered reporter Clark Kent.

Tyler Christopher personal life

The actor was born Tyler Christopher Baker on November 11, 1972 and his father believed they had Native American ancestry. It was believed that his dark good looks were because his mother is Choctaw, and his father is Seneca. A later DNA test however proved this was not the case. Christopher has dated two of his former General Hospital co-stars, Natalia Livingston who portrayed Emily Quartermaine and was his on-screen love interest, and Vanessa Marcel who played Brenda Barrett.

From 2002-2004 Christopher was married to actress Eva Longoria. He married Brienne Pedigo a racing reporter on September 27, 2008, and they had their first child, a son, Greyson James, on October 3, 2009. Christopher announced on Twitter on May 3, 2015, that Brienne had given birth to a baby girl named Boheme. The couple filed for divorce in February 2019. On November 11, 2019, Tyler pled guilty to charges of public intoxication but now appears to have put that incident behind him.

General Hospital and Days of Our Lives

Christopher has the distinction of portraying four different characters on two current daytime dramas. Tyler originated the role of Nikolas Mikhail Stavrosovich Cassadine on General Hospital (1996–1999, 2003–2011, 2013–2016) and was also Connor Bishop from 2004–2005. Spoilers tease the actor would reprise his role and viewers held out hope for 2 1/2 years.

Prince Nikolas did return to Port Charles but has been recast with Marcus Columba. In 1993, using the name Tyler Baker the actor had auditioned for the role of Stone Cates on GH but Michael Sutton was chosen. Christopher was later called back and offered the chance to portray the Cassadine prince.

Christopher portrayed Signore Christofero in one episode only of Days of Our Lives in 2000. From 2017-2019 he played Stefan Octavius DiMera on the NBC soap but was replaced by Brandon Barash who now portrays Jake Dimera because Stefan died. The recasts don't stop fans from hoping because on DOOL Stacy Haiduk took over the role of Kristen DiMera but Eileen Davidson who originated the character was used in the Days Peacock specials. One thing soap fans know is to never say never because anything is possible on daytime TV.
