Brains, weapons, and blood - oh my!
Glorifying the Dead: Our Fascination with Zombies
Everywhere you look there are zombies. On TV, the silver screen, t-shirts, video games and even in our music as people gleefully sing and recreate the dance in Michael Jackson’s Thriller. There are cereal bowls, garden gnomes, bedding, house slippers, lunchboxes… almost any item you can imagine has been zombified. Zombies have become a part of our daily lives and were welcomed with open arms and the occasional moan. The question is why? What would be so appealing about a walking corpse? Is it possible that we as a culture tend to step within the grasps of zombies when in times of societal stress to deal with our biases, anger with our government and alienation, either self or otherwise imposed?

One minute the teacher was speaking about math. And then the next minute she had been attacked by a student. Rose was there, though drifting somewhere inside her mind—away from all the arguing, the crackling of gunfire, and the slamming of the classroom door.

Nathan had just left work. He was in his beautiful car of the year, a RAV4 black Cromer 2013. This car was a gift he had received from his wife. On the way, he thought of his condition of life. Barely 48 years old, he had been married for 25 years. He had betrothed his wife Maëlle at the age of 22 years. She had given him two beautiful children. The first being Damien, now 24 years old. A university student, a future surgeon, he had always been a studious pupil and an exemplary adolescent. The blond hair descending to the shoulders, and the blue eyes, he had inherited the build of his father.

Top 10 Best Weapons to Kill Zombies
Thanks to movies, TV, books, and just plain old common knowledge, we are well aware that zombies eat brains. Ironically, even though brains are a scrumptious delicacy to a zombie, they still need one in order to survive.

Megan BurtonPublished 6 years ago in GeeksA Look Back on George A. Romero's 'Day of the Dead' (1985)
The recent passing of horror legend George A. Romero has left a major hole in the hearts of many film fans. Without Night of the Living Dead, the zombie subgenre itself would not be what it is today—arguably, his works have had the most lasting effect on curating both the style and the "rules" of how films like these behave.
Rob TrenchPublished 6 years ago in GeeksThe Narrative Problem with The Walking Dead
The first season of The Walking Dead was a masterpiece in television drama, full of ideas both in front of the camera and behind it that created six episodes of high-quality entertainment. With fantastic in-camera prosthetics and visual effects, the original team behind the show even thought to shoot on the more expensive film, rather than with digital cameras, as film footage would be much more likely to survive an apocalypse. The team clearly cared about the details.
Jae CalcuttPublished 6 years ago in GeeksBloodiest Horror Films of All Time
Horror movies are probably the most underrated genre in the movie industry. It's easy to write them off as campy or over the top, but there is plenty of artistry that goes into the genre. There is a multitude of different types of horror movies. Some deal with the supernatural, with mythical creatures that come to life. Others are psychological thrillers and are creepy in the way they mess with your mind. My particularly favorite sub genre of horror is the slasher film. They involve violence, mutilation, and lots and lots of blood. Some of these films are downright disturbing in terms of what they show on screen. The following films are not meant for young audiences, and they are just about the bloodiest horror movies out there.

Or is religion playing a cruel game by warning us that once Hell’s full, the dead will walk the Earth? No one really knows for sure, and that's what makes it so goddamn terrifying!
